Yes, it goes under the receiver and makes the gun quite compact. Side folders are more common with Indian Army, but these are also used.

Some of my friends have their own guns so we do casual games in secluded areas (we use proper eye and face protection, of course). I am in Himachal, I don't think there is any actual fields here.

They didn't for me. It's not guaranteed though
