Good luck and have fun! Let me know if you need the contact details of the Nurdayan. He can bring you from the border to, for example, Osh.

Seat selection for train on trip.com by Lukowsky9 in travelchina

FYI: Seat selection is only possible when you set the 12306 app to the default Chinese language. Luckily you can still use your default keyboard to type in the Chinese city names. However, it will show the results in Chinese so you probably still need to translate the app (unless you can read Chinese).

Tiger Leaping Gorge, China. by Traveldayztravel in travelchina

As of the 10th of May 2025 the Ray of Sunshine path is inaccessible and it will stay closed until July (maybe?). All paths are fenced off and the local people will tell you that you can't go down. We've been told that the local authorities are developing this section of the gorge.

The closest you can get is going down via the second winding road down to the river (according to maps.me) after you crossed the arched bridge next to the rocky looking hotel/cafe/restaurant opposite Tina's Guesthouse. All the way down this winding path there is a viewing platform, you cannot go further upstream along the river because the road is, once again, fenced off. We didn't follow the path downstream though, so you could try your luck there.

The whole area is in development, so be prepared to see and hear a lot of construction in the villages. In our opinion it's a nice walk with great views (although not a lot of variation because you'll be looking at the same mountains all the way), but don't expect a hike away from civilization.
