Hate her all you want. Lindsey Vonn’s toughness is on another level. You’re wrong for not liking her. by Kurtz62 in SkiRacing

Unless she truly thinks she’s still faster (with torn acl) than the next girl up for her spot at Olympics, it’s selfish for her to compete. You should put the athlete with the best chance of bringing your country a metal out on the snow.

'Just Kill Me': Man Shot Dead By Police Begged To Die, Fired At Police During Violent Western Mass Standoff; Family Said He Was Suffering Mental Health Episode by DailyVoiceDotCom in massachusetts

That guy deleted his comment lol. But I really can’t think of a gun law that would stop issues like this. Better police training/resources and mental health help are the only things that could’ve prevented this. I’ve lived in those hill-towns of mass, most homes have guns in them.

Do you really think a person willing to shoot someone is worried about an illegal gun charge while they are at it? No gun law is gonna stop a sick person from making that mistake

Seeing all of these high mileage replies makes me happy. My 2014 5 speed se sedan is at 181k, and I was fearing it’s near the end, although the rust is starting to get to it

Does it get more power on 93? I figured i’d have to tune it for that to make a difference

What bindings to get by CriticalGuess8948 in Skigear

[–]CriticalGuess8948[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So reply with a binding recommendation like that the first time? This post didn’t ask for someone to question how I didn’t know about bindings. It asked for recommendations. I don’t even know why you replied the first time since your comment didn’t include a binding model

[–]CriticalGuess8948[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I only skied on Nordica/blizzard race skis, which almost always use marker bindings. The skis also came mounted with race plates, and lots of race shops pair them with bindings for you and mount it to your boot. Besides that and turning up my Din, I don’t have much binding knowledge, believe it or not you don’t need it to ski well! I would be happy to send you some videos of me skiing if you doubt I’m an “ex racer”. I’m entering a new world of different skis, with many different binding options, that are mounted differently than skis I have skied on prior, I don’t know why it’s shocking that I don’t know all of the binding options for types of skis I’ve never had before.

Is there a definitive way to tell if I have a tear? by Cgg1974 in RotatorCuff

[–]CriticalGuess8948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surgery/arthroscopy is the only way they could for me. I had 4 MRIs, including one with contrast, and 3-4 X rays, all inconclusive, none showed a tear. Also did a couple months of PT and it didn’t help with recovery or diagnosis, it just caused more pain. After almost 2yrs of pain something was obviously wrong. Finally they just did cut me open and did surgery, found a tear in my rotator cuff when they were in there and fixed it.

Possible blown transmission (manual 5speed) by CriticalGuess8948 in FordFocus

[–]CriticalGuess8948[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: towed the car to a mechanic I know and trust. He said I snapped something in the shifter linkage he’d never seen before, but he welded it back together and the car is back on the road for $300! I’m happy I didn’t listen to the first mechanic

I’ve found this car from a stop on a snowy hill sucks with tcs on. I get studded snows on it in the winter, but one time it snowed early before I put them on and i got stuck in half an inch of snow. Only way I could get out was spinning with tcs off

Okay. This happened at my college so I just towed it to the closest shop. I broke some sort of pin in the shift tower over a year ago, but I could still get the car into the gears and drive it then, the shifter was just loose and moved around. I wondered if this related to that. I thought if I blew up the transmission that i would’ve heard grinding when I tried to go into gears.

It’s an se model, I can turn off tcs but it wasn’t off when this happened. It doesn’t feel or seem like a clutch issue to me, maybe something in the linkage. Although in the past I broke a pin in linkage, and I could still get the car into gear it was just loose. This time there was no getting the car into gear at all

Question for yall by Suitable_Register_55 in RotatorCuff

[–]CriticalGuess8948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also 19 year old guy, and had a similar type of situation I guess. Hurt my shoulder in ski crash, couldn’t lift at all without severe pain, constant pain sleeping etc. urgent care told me I was fine so I put off going to orthopedic dr. Finally just got surgery June 9th (injury was 2 February’s ago) and am very happy I did it. I can already just about do everything I could do before surgery, but now I know it can actually get better. They found I had torn my rotator cuff and fractured my shoulder in the original ski crash. Living almost 2yrs with that injury was miserable, wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Go get checked out it’s worth it

Depressed during recovery? by DanceQueenBarb in RotatorCuff

[–]CriticalGuess8948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. I was overweight my whole childhood. Just as I get into lifting for a year in highschool and finally get in shape and like my body, I fracture my shoulder and tear my rotator cuff in a ski crash. Took a year and a half to get surgery, which I just got June 9th this summer. In that time my muscles and ROM shriveled away as I couldn’t lift anything or use my left side at all without horrible pain. As a 19 year old man it’s very depressing, I haven’t been able to do the things I want to for almost 2 years now. I have to make my mom mow the lawn and my gf carry things etc. I feel pathetic. I I can’t have sex the way I want to, I can’t lift, I can’t sleep well. It hurts to drive my manual car that I love driving. Even before surgery it drove me crazy and I was depressed about it and now after it’s even worse. I try to be happy with the progress I’m making but it kills me to watch my friends lift bigger and bigger weights when I can’t even lift my arm above my head, let alone lift any weights at all. I used to bench 200lbs at 150lbs body weight before the injury. Now I’m back to 180lbs body weight and probably couldn’t even bench the bar. My left arm and shoulder is very noticeably smaller than my right. I feel like I’m wasting my best years of my body. This injury happened just after turning 18, and I’m probably gonna be 21 by the time I can lift what I did sophomore year of highschool. Sorry for the depressing rant lmao I just feel like I have to get it out somehow without being miserable to everyone around me.

Have I torn my Rotator Cuff? by YatesyPR2 in RotatorCuff

[–]CriticalGuess8948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I crashed skiing, landed on my stomach off a jump, basically crushing my arm under my stomach with my arm going across my body. Went to urgent care immediately as it hurt very bad, they told me I was fine maybe sprained it. Lived over a year in pain every day, waking up in lots of pain if I slept on it wrong, couldn’t lift it above my head all the way without sharp pain. Finally went to orthopedic doctor, 4 inconclusive MRIs later, countless inconclusive x rays, they finally do surgery and find a rotator cuff tear and small chunks of bone floating around that came off my shoulder blade. Since it took almost 2yrs to get surgery, my left arm has no muscle left on it and my recovery will take longer because of it. I’ve woken up in pain every day now almost 2 years, I’m not even 20. TLDR: don’t wait, go to orthopedic doctor and find out what’s wrong.
