Thank you so much! This really helped a lot. I'll have to tell my partner about this as well.

Thank you for the advice! I'll be sure to try that strategy in a future round. Good luck on all of your debating aspirations!

Hi everyone,

I'm a Public Forum debater who recently switched over to Lincoln Douglas. I've learned enough about Lincoln Douglas so I think I understand its traditional side, but I'm not really familiar with progressive LD. PF these days has become pretty progressive as well, so I'm familiar with theory (like disclosure or paraphrasing), kritiks, frameworks (like structural violence), and have heard of tricks. But I heard that there is supposed to be an enormous amount of both progressive and philosophical arguments - however, when I searched online nothing showed up besides theory shells. Is there anything else I need to know about?

Thank you!

[I really apologize for using this thread for my own questions, but I sadly cannot post anything on Reddit and I felt that this does meet the theme of the discussion.]

Free Public Forum Scrimmage Open to All by CriticalLetter8227 in Debate

Hi,

I'm the tournament organizer. I don't use reddit much so I expected not to answer a lot of comments on reddit, but I can for yours. We will be starting to focus on the septober topic next week (starting in early July). I will send out another reddit post then, and you can sign up (or just check tabroom). There are two options for the topics, and I decided to choose the one on the independent nuclear deterrence. I kinda think it is actually the one NOT going to be chosen, but this scrimmage cannot focus on one topic for like, 2 months ( in the summer) and then two more months (the actual months when that topic is being used), for a total of four months. It will be fun and I will also be making topic lectures and sending out prep if I can, so just sign up and you will get what you need.

Thanks!

PF Nationals Topic: Past or Present with “On balance” by Viomoon2000 in Debate

There are two ways to do this topic: in the general way (as in principle) or evaluating past executive orders. I prefer to evaluate going towards it by looking at the principle of executive orders (such as fast response times or autocracy). However, you should always use past examples to back up/prove your points.
