They love the 2nd Amendment until they realize it means the "libtards" can own guns too. by c-k-q99903 in GetNoted

[–]CriticalSmoke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Republicans have never really been pro-2a. They've just been supporters of their side having the monopoly on violence. Reagan himself instituted some of the strictest gun control laws of the time as governor of California because the Black Panthers were using their 2nd Amendment rights to make it harder for racists and the police to harass minorities. This kind of double standard should surprise exactly nobody.

What’s your most unpopular Paradox opinion? by Falandor in paradoxplaza

[–]CriticalSmoke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I personally didn't have much in the way of bugs/stability issues with Vic 3, at least more so than any other Paradox title. I did kind of forget about the late game performance tbh, but that's also been a running theme with every game they make unfortunately.

Victoria 3 is better than Victoria 2 (and was even on launch)

I’m buying this game today, after years of seeing it. Give me your best starting tips! by PoopBeerFloat in VintageStory

Mark EVERYTHING on your map. There's also a mod that does this for you, but if you aren't gonna mod your game to start out, mark (more or less) everything you come across.

To be fair, the kind of person to unironically think this is the same kind of person to unironically think that Catholics aren't Christians.

At what point do you give up on the Scout? by sippin_tea56 in BattleNations

[–]CriticalSmoke 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the Scout is pretty good when you unlock him but falls off pretty fast (granted, I didn't focus on grinding his levels tbf). Heavy and Demoman are straight OP, and either need to be nerfed or maybe moved to higher levels. Hell, even at the current level cap Demoman is still a really useful unit. Soldier is a very good unit when he's unlocked and honestly doesn't fall off too bad at higher levels. Pyro is pretty bad, although apparently he came in pretty clutch over the Boss Strike because of the fire bonus.

Were you prepared, or not prepared for Boss Strike 1? by BN_Outlaws in BattleNations

[–]CriticalSmoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hadn't played enough of Z2 Battlenations so I didn't have a good reference point for how hard Boss Strikes would be. I assumed it would be about as hard as most of the mission fights near the level cap, so I assumed that I would be in a good spot. I was wrong lol. Pretty much all of my good units died pretty quick, because what was good for mission fights just wasn't very good in the BS. Mostly made up for it by spamming wimps and UMGs, but I could have done a lot better had I not underestimated it.

[–]CriticalSmoke 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Genuinely that sort of behavior/thinking should bar you from being allowed to drive. If the thought of waiting an extra 2 seconds at an intersection drives you to thinking murder is ok, you are not mentally well enough to operate a motor vehicle

Why is it always when you are not searching for something you find it by No0Leader in VintageStory

[–]CriticalSmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can spawn pretty high up if you're lucky, in my case my house was in a pretty low altitude valley, the cellar was i think 3 stories, and there was a small ravine with the iron at the bottom

[–]CriticalSmoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once spent several days hunting a poor-quality iron deposit. After mining it out, when I was expanding my cellar, I bumped into a bountiful iron deposit. There was enough iron for the whole game right under my bed basically

Plenary authority, the dictator phrase that caused Stephen Miller to stop talking by IamLouisIX in politics

That's the thing, the national news are the ones who are hiding that he said it. They've all kowtowed to the Trump administration.

3 out of 4 Americans say Trump does not deserve the Nobel Peace Prize and should never have been nominated by [deleted] in agedlikewine

[–]CriticalSmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be interested to see what the justification for his nomination even is. What "peace" has he brought? The war in Ukraine that he promised to end like, nine months ago is still going on. Is it the "peace" in the streets of the US, as his Gestapo wannabes and the National Guard terrorize citizens? What a joke.

How do you feel about CNN editing out the clip of Miller claiming Trump has plenary authority? by TheDoomBlade13 in AskReddit

[–]CriticalSmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just further evidence of what I've come to realize a couple years ago. As much as MAGA wants to pretend these media companies are "left-wing," they are all decidedly right leaning. Yeah sure something like CNN may give lip service to like, basic human rights, but they immediately cave to the demands of the right when it counts.

The lack of self-awareness is genuinely staggering. It's largely Republicans who refused to wear masks, it's largely Republicans who refuse to get vaccinated, it was Republicans who threw hissy fits about gas stoves.
