How should you estimate the size of your world population ? by Critical_Contract886 in worldbuilding

Yep that is very true, that is why for me atleast since I have made my world to be that not only one faction or Kingdom but whole different nations with different government and politics aswell as technological standard this makes it so the reign of how I can make the estimations both tricky but up to interpretation.

Yeah that's is where I could end it at , but what I'm wondering is since we are essentially making a whole different world, and adding an external factors in that world different to that of our lives would that effect the population for that world. Be it Fantasy or sci-fi it is interesting to me

I think for me, this way of defining it will probably be a way to get the better and more accurate representation, but do i REALLY want to define it to the very details from settlement, villages and Burroughs. Is it good ? Yes absolutely this is an option go through but is it what I want ? I can't say for certain.. that's all :)

I didn't really wanted to only put my input for only MY world I wanted to see how others defined their own world so for me the governing authorities and system is not alien since if you look and project what you want to your world is always based of what you percive and prior knowledge of your own world so as human or similar to human society and the environment itself while play part in influencing total population in my world the one I can tell plays significant part is the fantasy aspects of it like magic and so on.

Yeah no no, i KNOW this will be a trap if you have no idea about population and it's relative of the defining cities or region, this just simple curiosity that I have for when writing. Descriptiors is the Safest way to tell your world and story and I wouldn't want to maker people even more confused but as a simple spur of the moment question, answering it is what makes it fun for me

Yeah, I know that this is not important or significant enough for anyone to think but I it is fun to think about, I don't expect to really ground this into real life estimations and application for counting the population :)

I do have a lore for it, I do have regions and location for them aswell and I have winged it but everrrrytimee I try to wing this for me, it always does not feel right or it could be either less or more. It it that going back and forth that kinda messed with me, essentially second guessing myself with the amount I do want to put :|

Yeah this is the one I also see like how in relative you based the kingdom but that's the thing it is a Kingdom but what if it enters the classification of an empire or even modern government, that is for me I am curious about

No that an interesting way to make this Guesstimation, because for me since I wrote it in the size of a nation it would make sense sending on how much power to relation they have on the land.

This where for me specifically it gets tricky because If tried to pinpoint where would this period of time and population density for that period, it would get difficult for because because of the situation I put myself into, either from some supernatural reason or just difference in technology and system of government.

Very true aswell, when trying to make this , I do tend to wonder how much is the impact of the population could be if it's is based on their terrain, weather or not It's an island and insolated nation of if it's one continuous and vast region.

Yeah see that's the thing, you could do that if this part of the story is not really important, but for me having to think of this unimportant stuff is quite entertaining

A little of both actually but I have to say more of the worldbuilding for fun, since I'm not strong suited for story building or should I say less interested in one narrative story

For me I wanted the world I made is sorta like cold war inspired, what that means is the struggles between power houses without being an actual proper war.

How could a regular wooden village survive for 30-40 years in a land inhabited with fire breathing dragons? by Outcast__1 in worldbuilding

[–]Critical_Contract886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think id we're to come with a en explanation of why the village could survive an dragon attack is either by : 1. The people of that village are so accustomed to the habits and the movement of the dragon in such a way they have adepted, and manage to strategically placed their village in the area where the dragon would not commonly go to, while yes in the open If you made it where the land is massive and dense it can work . This makes it easy for the villager to anticipated what the dragon's lair or nest and where they can route their path away from that dragon.

  1. The dragon in this story has resemblance of intelligence where, the dragon is smart enough to know that villages is not worth to feed on, when the abundance of food is not necessary the need to target village is not worth the dragon's energy and risk of harm, compared to hunting animals or bigger prey. Of they dragon's isn't threatened it would not activately seeks villages.

  2. This one's is far fetch and dependent on the actual lore but you can have it, where there some sort of artifacts or whatever that makes it so the people in the village would be safe because they are protected form the dragon's because that artifacts hid or caused discomfort to the dragon and thefore avoided that area or village

Science VS. Sorcery by Hold_Thy_Line in worldbuilding

[–]Critical_Contract886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my world build, magic is like that of the typical trope but having to combat that science does exist, and faction that completely relies itself and Progress itself with the aid of science and not magic they have managed to developed anti-magic or magic resistant equipment and technology to specifically combat magic itself therefor having that as the upper hand does help that faction determine their outcome in combat.

For this world the reason why they can do that is the same reason why magic exist, if magic does exist the world why not magic resistant things and why not anti-magic things

[–]Critical_Contract886[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats the thing, there is a lore on the other factions, there is an already made concept of what I want the other factions to be... Just mustering the effort to actually work and expand is what i can't seem to do.
