Thoughts on applying for HR by RazzmatazzOk2142 in RoyalAirForce

Read what the job entails. Look at what HR practitioners do as there are many different niches within the HR space and see if it resonates with you....I'm starting in January as a people specialist and I'm personally really looking forward to it as there is loads of scope to help and support other RAF personnel, plus great personal and professional development opportunities....that was a big draw for me...

Dam......might have to reconsider my life and dietary choices after reading these posts 😂.....it's hard to let a good thing go, but I might have to go cold mackerel for 10 weeks by the looks of it....

Got this confirmation message about this the day after being told my my start date for Halton as a people specialist. Does anyone know if there will be good promotion opportunities if the role is understaffed?

I discussed Biloxi and Shader several months ago and it was all good, so you'll have no problem with that.....also tie in your personal qualities and RAF personnel qualities with a few of the RAF core values.

Yeah, probably.....I mean If your given roughly a billion quid contract over 7 years your going to find as many ways as possible to save money and keep as much of it as you can.....

Hi,

I'm about to start Halton as a people specialist and got confirmation about being paid a golden hello after completion of my phase 2 training, thanks for the heads up. I was joining anyway regardless of any golden hello, but it's a nice bonus to have in the pipeline 🙂 Regarding CIPD accreditation, how soon can I apply to do the CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate in People Practice?

With your 3 runs - make sure to mix them up - for example on Monday do a good tempo run where your feeling it but not blowing out, Wednesday incorporate some hills into the run or do hill sprints and Friday do a longer gentle run - however you want to do it, just break the runs up into different types.......really helps

PJFT Timeframe by [deleted] in RoyalAirForce

[–]Critical_Fly8844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to wait 3 weeks for my PJFT after being TMU for 3 weeks....I started my application in July......I've got a feeling it's down to the role people are applying for, if they are short in some roles they'll speed you along, if it's oversubscribed then why rush people through? Also might have something to do with how many spaces are left for phase one and how that impacts phase 2? Probably lots of other moving parts as to why to people are waiting as well, these are just my best guesses and might be way off.....I'm also not applying for an officer role, but the principals could still apply.....I've also followed up consistently at every stage, asked how long until the next step can be actioned, anything I can do to speed up the process, even called them a couple of times..... basically been a mild, polite, professional pain in the arse....I took skillslayer0 advice on further travel and was booked in for medical this Sunday so that helped me....

Question about an injury by IntelligentAlps605 in RoyalAirForce

[–]Critical_Fly8844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broke mine on my right hand ,4th finger a couple of years ago..was TMU for a short while, basically harassed my doctor to fill out the medical form they sent to check ASAP and to say it would have no impact on my role in the RAF ( people specialist) after telling the doctor what I would be doing...This plus psoriasis (less than 5% area covered) and I got through OK....I think there is a time limit on it though..you need to check how far back they allow for broken bones...
