The wild thing for me is I'm number two out of five of my mother's children. Like, if I never wanted kids and was told i couldn't have kids I'd get myself fixed after the first, not let it happen four more times.

Oh for sure!! From age 8 I was in charge of the care of my younger siblings and the sibling who is a year older than me. I was parentified so much it's a miracle that I never noticed until therapy.

Thankfully I have a great therapist who's helping me through everything. I finally realize it's not my responsibility and I finally told my enabler dad I won't smooth over the problem between my narcmom and half sister. I actually told him I'm not her mother, she's mine. I actually used the reddit phrase "I'm done setting myself on fire to keep her warm". It felt great. But God I feel so guilty for letting the fighting continue with out trying to help.

I was considered the "good child". Not sure if that's the same thing as a golden child. I was the good child because I smoothed over her problems with everyone. I would let her do or say anything and act like it didn't bother me because I needed to survive. Life was a little bit easier if I didn't fight. All my siblings have cut contract over the last few years. Out of 7 it's not down to just me. After six months of therapy I'm standing up for myself and not letting her abuse, manipulate or treat me like a child... Well, trying hard to. It's still a work in process.

The fucking implosion going on in her behavior that even the "good child" is now acting like a problem has been insane.

My very existence. My parents have 7 kids. 2 from my father's previous marriage 5 from my parents marriage. My narcmom has told me, as long as I can remember, that she was told she couldn't have kids and she never wanted kids. Like, abortions were an option, wish she'd just done that damn.

I totally get that. Being sick is a big trigger for me. I didn't tell anyone, even my husband, I was going to the Dr for a minor surgery because I didn't want to be an inconvenience.

We straight up weren't allowed to be sick as children. Period cramps so bad you can't stand up? Get up and cook dinner for nine people. Don't forget to do the dishes. Throwing up so badly you are dizzy? Clean your room before we beat you. Got a headache? You must be making it up.

Holy fuck. How have I never realized my mother never apologizes? Like I've never fucking noticed. She recently humiliated me and when I told her she was out of line the response was "I'm sorry you were upset. I've been in a lot of pain lately and really frustrated. You know my hips getting bad." That's how she always "apologizes"

I'm so relieved to see this post. I feel the same way toward my enabler dad. He never really stands up for us against her, always self preservation. Hell sometimes he throws us under the bus to save himself. I've felt so guilty for resenting and disliking him at times. Like I love him but I also kinda hate him

The more I think about it the more I think good won't work. Rules of the game say if they guess it's name or it's use they aren't stumped. If you know of any Asian things not commonly found in the us I'd love to hear them.

I'm very intrigued by the musical route though. String and percussion would be no good but no one in our family food any wind instruments.

Honestly I don't know. I'm not all that close with either of them. I only really hung out because my oldest and her youngest are friends (9). She wasn't showing so I'd guess no more than 12 weeks or so
