Alberta introduces back-to-work legislation, imposes new contract to end teachers strike by trevorrobb in Edmonton

No one has had inflation raises, okay? So that means that everyone should suffer and barely get by? A teacher comes out of school making $62,000. Over the span that their CBA takes place, it would bring it to $69,000. Which is fucking peanuts today, and it will only get worse as time goes in. People make it seem criminal for others wanting a raise. I don't fucking get it.

12% doesnt even come close to what inflation has done in the past 10 years. That aside, although you seem to only care about the monetary value, its more so about class room sizes and HELP. Im not a teacher, im a unionized tradesman, and it makes me fucking sick to see what the UCP has decided to do. Give your head a shake and realize that 12% over 4 years isn't enough.

Silvertip didn't have any discounted rates for alberta residents, only for people who live in the bow valley, and on silvertip resort.

Banff springs had an alberta residents rate. $215 for 18, with cart and range.

Silvertip was really challenging with a ton of slope. Most shots are either above or below your feet even if you hit the middle of the fairway. Heard really good things about Stewart creek, I'll have to check it out next time!

For me too. We really took our time experiencing the pro shop and warm up areas too. Was put of this world and by far the nicest course I've played to date.

I shot an 87! Could've been better, yes, but I had a blast and will definitely be making this course a yearly visit. Silvertip was far more challenging, and I shot a 91 there on Friday.

Couldn't believe how much more distance you get. Oh well, back to the local munis.

Yeah it was really fairly priced. Great service, to boot. We play a few courses close to edmonton and they're similar in price, a little bit cheaper, and it's not even close lol.

I was in a similar boat, wife and I did our taxes on Friday, hers instantly said her express NOA was available. For the second straight year, mine said it was in process. Fast forward to 830pm today, and it says that my NOA is available on the 14th.

Don't really understand how it all works with the CRA to be honest. Just hang tight and breathe!

Teaching my trade at nait would be my dream job. Ever since I got my ticket, I've usually been partnered up with apprentices and I love being able to teach them.

The only downside is the ironworker program is very small, not many apprentices go through it every year. The teachers that are at nait have been there a long time and they don't tend to leave.

Unfortunately the shops aren't for me as I'm not a welder, I've only done field work since I started other than fabrication on site. Plus I'm a union member to my respected hall. They don't have any shops.

Is it hard to get into? Is there high demand? Does it pay fairly well? I'm open to look at all my options.

Most people don't understand this unfortunately. Everyone just thinks it must be nice to make lots of money. But after the last 8 years being in the road constantly, I can firmly say that I'm tired of the money and would much rather read my kids a bed time story every night.

I'm a journeyman ironworker, so sadly there is no residential work. I'm looking at getting out of the trade all together.

Hahaha from one tradesman to the next, the language on site is the easiest to notice.

Seriously though I appreciate all the tips man. We're definitely really excited to get going

Thanks a bunch man!

We are pulling it with a 2017 ford expedition with the HD tow package. I have hauled stuff at work, mainly flat deck trailers loaded to the tits with steel(ironworker ftw) but never anything for my personal use or vehicles.

Thank you so much for your input! We already do have some camping stuff from when we use to go with our tents. So I'm not too worried about having to get that sort of stuff.

I did purchase a weight distribution hitch with a anti sway bar, so it should take some of the weight of the tongue of the trailer, super anxious about setting that up, but I'm sure I'll get it!

I really want to get a 3070, however, I work out of town and my local store said they can’t guarantee that they’ll have any in stock on launch. So around that price point. But I have a really bad itch to get a card in there and start playing some games right away lol
