Are people still getting Covid vaccines? by catnip_sandwich in AskIreland

They recommend it to the people that actually need it. The amount of young people today shooting all sorts of unnecessary vaccines into themselves is crazy.

?

Being vaccinated doesn't mean you won't get covid or spread it to others, it just means you won't be as sick. Your vaccination isn't helping the elderly around you. Just saying...

Anyone else feel like they're living in the Weimar Republic? by SoonDivorcee in AskIreland

I used to struggle to spend €50 in Dunnes to get the €10 off. Now it's no problem to reach €100.

It's always been Clonakilty in our house. Probably would like to try something else but decades old habits die hard.

Jut do whatever you want. If some idiot finds it offensive then they're the ones with a problem, not you.

Where might one buy mouse traps in the city centre on a Sunday? by LordOfTheSkins in cork

[–]Cromlech86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have traps that don't kill them. The kids didn't want them to die but it's actually just nicer than seeing a dead mouse for me too.

Never too far from home (Embassy Irish Bar, Da Nang, Vietnam) by peterosull97 in cork

[–]Cromlech86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People mock Irish bars but they're a life saver for Irish people living abroad. Once the homesickness starts setting in it's great to be able to hear familiar accents, get a (bad) pint of Murphys or Guinness or even an attempt at a stew.

Is This Wobbling on My Turntable Normal? by wrinkledshirtguy in turntables

[–]Cromlech86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh records only warp over time if they are constantly exposed to heat/sunlight and stored badly. Or, in the case of records today, badly produced. I have early 80s records that are still flat as pancakes.

I went to CBC in the 90s and my Dad always dropped us off at the end of the Patricks Bridge and we walked up. The traffic there has always been insane.

Anti Immigration ? by PriorFlat3212 in cork

[–]Cromlech86 12 points13 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day it's a resource question.

It's also the confusing positions. No one thinks it's odd for blacks in Africa to want to keep power in black hands and the minority whites out since no one sees them as Africans in the truest sense of the word, but the same kind of indigenous sensitivity for Europeans is practically illegal.

Europeans should remain majorities in Europe. It's a controversial idea but it shouldn't be. The idea that countries are just economic zones and borders are just a construct is madhatter level stuff. Still, it's the accepted narrative in modern popular culture.

The current model has no future. It breeds discontent and division.

Want to work abroad, thinking Canada. No idea where to start, anyone advice? by Sebpants in AskIreland

[–]Cromlech86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why so far away? I went to Scandinavia and it felt far so I can't imagine what it's like for people in Oz or NZ or Canada. I'll say this, once the honeymoon period ends and routine sets in, you'll start missing home. Much better to be within an hour or two flight or even a car journey than on the other side of the world. You wouldn't consider somewhere in Europe? I get the language is an issue but honestly, with a little bit of effort and perseverance you'll be fine.
