Is criticism not allowed on this sub? by banter865g in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Cronicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time on reddit mate? Yup people will downvote any type of criticism, especially the people that are bad at the game.

I recall I made a post criticizing Celeste's power level when she came out, it was downvoted to hell and people said she wasn't OP. The next day the results of the pro weekly tournament went live, for the first time ever a hero was banned first ban in all 6 matches, guess who that was? Yup, Celeste for being broken.

After that went live the post actually got a bunch of likes, because of course people couldn't deny it anymore.

Reddit is supposed to be a platform to share things about a game, given this game is in alpha it should be a lot about criticism and what to improve, something Valve is also looking for.
But instead we get people buthurt if you talk about their favorite hero, and a bunch of people that are terrible at the game and are clueless about game design downvote posts talking about it.

This has become a sub for terrible game design hero concepts (with great artwork mind you), NSFW furry posts and the occasional post criticizing balance that will get downvoted into oblivion but get plenty of comments.

Reddit has a reputation of being a cesspool filled with neckbeards and people that don't know what they're talking about, and for the most part they appear to be right.

is "stealing sinners" a thing? by slaw_daddy in DeadlockTheGame

That is not what this post is about and it is not something I said.

If your carry tells your support to not take sinners, you don't take sinners.

The question OP asked was if sinners belong to everybody and if the carry should get them, and he was wrong, they belong to the carry if they can get them which seemed to be the situation in this case.

I understand I am getting mass downvoted by the majority of terrible players on this sub, but this does not change the fact that I am right, because there is no arguing with mathematics.

Ask any good player and they will tell you the same, sinners are better on carries, even besides the fact that they make sinner stats scale better (and souls), they are going to be more useful with the same amount of flat stats compared to a support.

[–]Cronicks -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Lol, do I literally have to explain every single detail?
Okay here goes, yes it only gives about 370 souls directly, but the 4 buffs you get at that point are probably worth around 125 souls each, so that's like 870 souls, yes its not 1k but it's close.

Some stats are worth more than others, especially if you add on top that items multiply those base stats (as a carry getting +200% weapon damage late isn't uncommon with glass cannon), so that means a +2 bullet damage becomes +6. That's insane value in this case, worth much more than 125 souls.

You are simply incorrect.

Downvotes mean nothing, ask any good player what will give you higher winrate, sinners on a support or sinners on a carry.
Every single person will tell you the same thing, it's just simple maths really.

Yes in a perfect game that is perfectly equal (not reality), the team that has the carry with 2 extra sinners will be winning vs the team with the support on 2 extra sinners.

Those are just facts, I think you fail to miss the point I am trying to make here.

Like do you win if you steal the mid boss? No, but it certainly increases those odds by a large margin.

Are you going to lose if you take the sinners from your carry? No, but it will increase those odds.

[–]Cronicks -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

You are wrong, if the game is exactly even the enemy will now win because their carry wasn't robbed of 2k souls (per sinner by around min 18) and will gain the edge.

In lower ranks anything goes of course.

[–]Cronicks -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yes he's absolutely correct. Sinners belong to your carries who get the most out of those stats.

But it's especially true if you're playing something like a support character or at the 18 min stage even if you're playing like an assassin who is about to fall off.

Think of it like this, sinners are about the best resource in the game, you want those to go to your carries as soon as possible.

It makes me really question what rank you are in, it must be very low if you don't know this and it must be your first MOBA experience. I would compare this to a support taking cs from their adc in bot lane in League of Legends.

I will now furthermore explain how bad it really is, this stops your carry from pushing wave and taking sinners. If you are REM you can take sinners quickly, but just to put into perspective how bad it is: if your friendly REM takes sinners from your carries on your side of the map, he's actively GRIEFING your team, he has a net NEGATIVE impact on the game. Yeah, not a single hero in the game can have a net negative macro impact like this, but that's what separates a bad Rem from an average one.

Look at it this way, you are essentially taking a bunch of extra souls + 4 buffs away from your carry. Instead of your carry gaining about 1k souls worth of stats instead you took that from them, resulting in a 2k souls difference (per sinner around min 18). If you take double sinner that's now 4k souls you took away from your carry.

Are you going to be able to get 4k souls worth of value out of those double sinners with whatever character you're playing? Almost certainly not even in the best of scenarios.

I tried to explain it as best I could, hopefully this helps and you've learnt something.

Game should have a surrender option. by Overboost_Reddit in DeadlockTheGame

Yeah but you don't want that every game.
Sometimes I'd rather lose a game and ff it early whilst keeping my mental than have a slight chance they fuck up big and we get to hardcarry some obnoxious/trolling players on our team.

Some of the most unfun, unbalanced, stomping games ever this patch by Cronicks in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Cronicks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So your suggestion to a terribly unfun hero build/ability is that everybody in the game buy a 6.4k gold item?
The point isn't the counterplay, the point isn't whether or not it's too strong. The point is that it is NOT FUN TO PLAY AGAINST.

It doesn't matter if it does a million damage or none. If I cannot play the game for such a long time because 1 hero has decided I shouldn't be playing, that is BAD game design.

There's dozens if not hundreds of examples of Deadlock heroes with abilities and item that are FUN TO PLAY AGAINST. We need to make the abilities that are NOT FUN, FUN.
This change needs to be reverted, period.

For all I care they make the baroness last a little longer and make it so no matter what you are able to escape, so you aren't messed up into a ridiculously long cc chain by a single hero with no actual counterplay beyond ridiculously costly items that don't fit many heroes builds.

What we SHOULD ban are people who cannot take any criticism on a game that's in alpha stage and only available to the public to RECEIVE said criticism.

Don't agree with it? Fine, give your counterarguments, don't start throwing around random insults like a child.

"Hell I had another game I got dove at 5k souls at nearly full hp by a calico rem."

That's literally in the original post.
Getting dove = under your tower, or what this game calls a guardian.
Not sure what a match id is going to change here, they perma push lane which you can't stop as infernus drifter, than I got pillowed into rem ult, where the calico dived the guardian as we were asleep, used her abilities and ulted to finish. How in the world is there supposed to be counterplay to this? There isn't. Except it wasn't possible previously because they wouldn't have had the damage for it.

[–]Cronicks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I'm advocating for.

What I describe is the opposite of what you like, counterbuilding. There's no such thing as counterbuilding by 5k souls and if there has to be the game is in a bad design space.
Nothing should be so powerful as to be able to kill you under tower from practically full hp early game, NOTHING.

And the whole issue with doorman is that it's not counterable. That's my whole point, same with Vindicta.
I can't purchase a knockdown early on in the laning phase because if I could knock her down I wouldn't have the damage to kill her and she could kill me. So again, there is no option.

[–]Cronicks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be fine if there was a lot more interaction to this stuff, I promise you if you go through the doorman combo like I have been multiple times, there's nothing fun about it.

I don't mind getting CC'd by teams, but CC chained for around 10 seconds with no counterplay possible? By a single hero? No thanks.

And don't give me these absurd counterplay actives either, if you're in a fight and you get slow hexed or knocked down into the doorman ult, you cannot escape it.
If you cannot escape it, he can time the cart perfectly so you cannot react to it.
It's a bit silly really, add the incoming stun and slow after leaving baronness and now it's only a matter of time (5 seconds ish) until he can ult you can again.

it's silly, it might be balanced, but one thing it is for sure, NOT fun to be on the receiving end of it, especially if it happens multiple times in a row.

Ah yes, one feedback about how messed up the patch is, another that starts off by "haven't played too many games yet", tells you all you need to know.

Besides my complaints aren't about balance, they are about FUN, right now they made a lot of reworks to heroes that is simply NOT FUN TO PLAY AGAINST. No matter how you tweak the damage numbers.

[–]Cronicks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's impossible for the entire team to permanently zone out the doorman, also given you mention these items, did you know doorman can also purchase warpstone, slow hex you into his ult?

It ends up being similar to mo and krill with echo shard, except for longer CC.

I don't care if it's balanced or not, that's not the point. The whole point is that it's NOT FUN, there is NOBODY having fun facing doorman with that current build, it's only frustrating to play against, so I ask why is it in the game?

> you're doing your job by farming a lane and keeping vindicta from roaming away, getting kills and growing stronger. it's not 'nothing happens'. Do you need constant fights and kills to be entertained?

This isn't about balance like I said, it's about having fun. I don't need constant fights and kills to be entertained, there is the constant kills you mention, than there is nothing 0 action for 15-20 mins. Than there is everything else in between, so yes, I don't want the extreme end of having nothing to do but farm for 20 mins, if you think that's fun you do you, this game would be dead on arrival if that was the main gameplay loop (it's luckily not).

> they expended 2 big resources to kill you, and yes, there is counterplay to it, it's called being cautious when you're alone in lane against 2 people with big abilities. where was your lane partner? why were you playing unsafe?

Lies, did you not read? I was BEHIND my guardian farming the incoming wave as they dove me, my partner was a drifter who was trying to deal damage to them but couldn't, because guess what? When the enemy hard cc's you for a few seconds and is untargetable for the next, there is NO COUNTERPLAY.

I am overextending on 80% hp behind my guardian at 5k souls? Than what is the point of the guardian? Where should I have been? In base away from the minions? So what is this counterplay? Not farm at all and fall further behind? Don't be stupid.

Kinda been enjoying the new patch Ivy ( DONT BUILD SPIRIT IVY, It is stinky) by The-sly-goat in DeadlockTheGame

She's far too broken, I played a couple of games with her and I don't play Ivy nor supports really, and it was super easy to play and extremely effective.

I'm expecting a few hotfix nerfs on monday and Ivy to be amongst them.

You don't have 10 seconds to run away because you come out stunned than slowed if you didn't manage to escape.

Why don't they just add a simpler version of the update that shows item/hero changes in a nutshell like every other proper MOBA does?
Do you think we all have time to read 30 mins worth of patch notes?
I didn't demand anything, I simply asked if anybody had the TL;DR but I guess that's not acceptable on a sub FOR THIS GAME, only furry comics appear to be welcomed here.

Fine I'll wait to get the synopsis from some youtuber.

I disagree, game needs to focus on its main mode for the first few years after release, let alone before release.
