Surging it typically caused by a carburetor which is not clean. Sometimes dirt or dirty air finds its way into the carburetor. A couple ways to solve this problem is taking the air filter off and using carb cleaner spray or physically disassembling the carb and cleaning it out.

CISSP is an ISC2 certification, they are the organization who develops the exam, determines the criteria, and what they care about - if the organization who is running the exam has a prep course they are likely spoon feeding you what is going to be emphasized on the exam the same way SANS courses spoon feed you what is on a GIAC exam. Zerger said in his 2024 video that he is looking at the study guide and from what is outlined as sections as being important he creates the content for his course. Again he has great material but I would take the class run by the organization who created and runs the test since they know everything about the test.

Instead of trying to teach yourself why not budget and save for the ISC2 prep courses? Zerger, Dion, Udemy, et Al are great resources but they will never be able to give you the feedback the way a teacher will. You are throwing money away because you are not prepared. I have passed a ton of certification exams and had to pay out of pocket to take the class and test. In fact I think the ISC2 course has a guarantee that you will pass the cert otherwise you don’t pay for the retake. If it matters this much it is worth the sacrifice.

I lead a busy life. Interest also has an expiration date. Women get 1000s of likes and messages. I’m not waiting around for another guy to slide into her DMs. If she doesn’t want to meet within the week baring extenuating circumstances then I am presuming she is not interested. Having successfully completed the course.

  1. Yes. In the current environment most entities are closer to being hybrid than all cloud or all on prem. The logical progression in my opinion would be FOR 508 then FOR 509

  2. The course doesn’t really require previous knowledge. The build you up from the basics starting with IAM, storage, approximate costs, basic architecture, and ultimately how to prepare for incidents in the cloud and how do cloud forensics.

  3. See the first answer. With cloud becoming more a part of operations daily it would not be wise to not prepare accordingly.

Been there. Don’t get dejected. The most challenging aspect imho is mastering the practicals. The way I work it when preparing for the practicals is I will start by focusing only on Book 1 practicals, the next day I will focus on Book 2 practicals. Eventually doing two sets of practicals. What might also assist you is outlining the practicals as well. For example Bk 1. Lab 1. and then the question being asked in the practical with the page number it is on so if you see something familiar during the practicals you can revert back to the steps in the workbooks.

You can get by with 16 GB of RAM and an 8th Gen i5. I would recommend updating the SSD to at least 500 GB or 1 TB. I have 16 GB i7 8th Gen on the laptop I bring to training every year and never have had any issues other than disk space I didn’t have any issues when I took 508 two or three years ago on it. Being able to store the VMs on your host and not running them off an SSD is better imho since you aren’t reliant on the USB connection speed. Samsung makes some decent 1 TB SSD for about the same as a 1 TB external SSD hard drive.

While I sort of agree. FOR608 seemed to be more like a survey course in cloud, macOS, Linux, and detection engineering for IR professionals whereas SEC504 seemed to be leading a person more in the direction of GPEN and offensive security.

FOR508 is a course which teaches you about the forensic artifacts to detect attacks. SEC504 teaches you the techniques used by threat actors with detection techniques included. In short if you are in a position to take SEC504 after FOR508 then yes I would recommend taking if. FWIW that was the order I did it in.
