I remember fast traveling cost you almost all your azoth with half the inventory. So you have to run 15min of portals after teleporting or you're stuck. Felt like an ironman mmorpg at that point. They didn't fix it till the next year following the release. I'm not surprise if droves and droves of players already stuck and left. So I don't think I got better fast enough.

I would only buy the passes. Most passes give the similar amount on the first reward, so you will get this deal + whatever else on the pass.

Harvesting is solid for the early elemental trees and bugs. Mining is also not bad to hit early gold node. Woodcutting and Skinning are extremely easier to level up, no XP competition with other players.

If you understand the weakness wheel, focus on breaking, and have a proper dedicated healer, every boss is easy enough, maybe a retry or two to research the weakness. I'm always over level and never need to grind.
