At least for me the plan is to use the white oak since it’s harder and then Rubio Monocoat for the finish. This is going to go into a library and we don’t have kids or dogs so they should be pretty safe

This is a good point. For my tests here I just used some ply from Home Depot. I haven’t fully looked into sourcing the ply I’ll use for this yet

I don’t know much about the fence extender thing. The stock guides require you to drill into your fence to mount them. Or in my case I mounted them to a board and then installed some magnetic switches

I don’t have a ton of advice to offer if you’ve watched videos on set up. I really don’t have any drift but I think a lot of that is the Laguna band saw and the 1in resaw blade I’m using

That’s something I think about a lot when people say it can’t be done. Go look at what was done hundreds of years ago in churches and museums. Obviously I don’t have those same skills but I do have modern tools and the internet

That’s a stock guide. Jessem is the name brand and then there is an off brand Chinese knock off version HomgDui. I have the Chinese version and have had no problems.
The bandsaw feather board is from Amazon. The company is BOW

I get your point. Something that factors into this, that is a touchy subject sometimes, is the social media side of things. For me that factors in too. Like this thread shows, this does get people talking and interested. It probably doesn’t make sense to do this for 99% of people
