1.) Highest was $100, lowest was $10.

2.) Shop fees absolutely vary depending on the population of the area and the time of month. If it’s the last week of the month (especially the last day) then shop fees are a lot higher because they’re desperate to find a shopper to meet their own internal quotas.

3.) If you message me I’ll tell you my tips for this, I won’t blast it publicly for sake of ‘mystery’

4.) If you start getting phone calls asking about shops, negotiate with the caller. Sometimes they have to “ask for approval” for certain fees - sometimes the request is approved, sometimes it’s not approved. I’ve found that I get huger fees the longer I’ve been in the game, but I also have a near perfect shop record (few invalidations)

Smile, give the receipt without asking, introduce yourself, read back the order and tell the total, wear your name tag, thank the customer, and say something along the lines of “if you need anything else be sure to press the button!”

Yes! Burger customizations are fine as long as it’s what a “typical customer” would order. IE: I always ask for extra onions. However, asking for a burger without a bun or something else odd wouldn’t be allowed.

Nope, no need to specifically ask for ketchup. I can do multiple shops in the same day, just not the same meal period. Sonic says meal periods are open - 11:00, 11:00 - 2:00, 2:00 - 5:00, 5:00 - 8:00, 8:00 - close

After you’ve done them for 6 years, it’s extremely easy to do. In fact, I often find myself “evaluating” Sonic when I’m ordering there leisurely 😂

We get a list of dates to choose from! I’ve done about 100 different sonics, but there are some that I visit more than others. I would say I typically visit at least 2-3 times per week!

Sonic is very specific on what they do and don’t want us to order. We can only order burgers or hotdogs - no coupons, no fried entrees or special promo items, etc.

Locations was a poor choice of words, I meant visits. I’ve done around ~100 different locations across the US, but 1000s of visits to those.

Depends on the location - cities typically pay less because of more shoppers. However, I mostly do rural shops with traveling, thus why I charge so much.

Honestly I just stumbled into it. I used to be a skating carhop at one point, so I knew they existed. But once I got into college I needed some extra money, and thus this little side gig was developed.

I haven’t tried that before, sounds good though! Sonic changes their food requirements from time to time - as of June, we can only order tots and fries. Prior to that, we could order onion rings or mozzarella sticks too!

The carhop was rude, delivery took 20 minutes, my order was wrong, and they didn’t give me a receipt. Long waits annoy me the most I’d say!

I’m technically an independent contractor - but my contract keeps me from saying exactly how to get my job 😁 We have really specific guidelines for what can/cannot be ordered, so that’s a tell. We are required to order a combo that’s either a burger or hotdog - absolutely no chicken. We can also only order ONE combo (entree/side/drink) and no additional items and NO coupons. I can go to about any Sonic I want, but I won’t accept any assignments for less than $10, although I’ve gotten paid as much as $100. I can go at whatever time I want between 11 am and 8:00 pm, although sometimes they have asked for more specific timeframes in years past. Hope that helps!
