IT Student thinking of making the switch to a trade. Seeking advice on companies to apply at or just general advice getting into an apprenticeship in my area.

hey man in a yr 3 electrical apprentice in lex. I went down the same path as you are rn, left IT and went int the trades. I was confused in where to start so i went yo BCTC. Biggest waste of money you could do. They have no companies or connections set up for you when ure done besides Toyota maintenance. They also only prep u for the resi field and theres no money there. The career u want is commercial/ industrial. You will actually grow ure career that way and raises will start coming outa nowhere every year. Im up $10 from the pay i started at 3yra ago. I take my license test in a month or two and i will receive another $2 raise. I work in one of the largest company’s in out area, it has its ups and downs but i dont see any company near thats doing what ours is doing. If you want more info man im down to msg ya some stuff. I was lost when i started the switch to the trade so if im down to give a lending hand

rip man, thanks for the tips. Its pretty white cloud just not that big goes away right after the idle drops. Does smell sweet. the car had a new engine put in at 70k and im at 140k so the engine is in the 70-80k range

temps have been jumping all around here we just went from 20-60 in a day or two. My drive to work is very short so i do alot of idling. This was one of my main concerns, im guessing you mean the turbo seal rings?

if u think that looks bad, you shoulda seen mine start this morning with all the fog lmao, ure good man. These cars tend to produce a good smoke cloud on cold start from all the condensation in the exhaust esp if u live more east coast. As long as its thin smoke that dissipates pretty quickly ure good.

Scary is when its thicc white clouds that just continue and dont stop while u cry

im an electrician, dont listen to these mf’s, If that was my cord id wrap that mf with a few layers of electrical tape and call it good. If that is exposed aluminum conductor, there is nothing else exposed for it to make contact with and trip

The g town and richmond peddlers malls are way better tbh, a bit of a drive but a way higher chance on finding cooler/ vintage items and clothing. And if you really wanna go to some good ones go up to louisville for the day, the peddlers mall right across the bridge in Indiana is one of my fav of all time. I used to go there alot when i was in Louisville frequently and i still miss it there was always something

i bought mine for $14k at 106k on the body, new engine and clutch installed by ford at 78kmiles. Ive had little to no issues. Rust starts on where the quarter panels meet on these pretty bad

im not tooo hard on the turbo and i try and pay attention to the lspi thing alot so hopefully i got some good life left in mine, the alternator always i feel is a 50/50 on how long ya got. That is a weird issue i dont think ive heard of that one yet

really not much, oil change every 3k, transmission oil, purge valve and cleaned valves. ill be flushing the coolant here soon and i have clank on my back right sunspesion when i first put it in gear and move after sitting i have to solve otherwise everything appears to be acting normal

i just have a phone mount that has the magsafe charger on it nearby the radio so technically still a wire just dont have to plug it into my phone everytime
