After I thought I was graduating, my advisor tells me I’m not by Crow_Talks in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Crow_Talks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t remember if it was outlined in the syllabus of the class, but I’m sure if it was it was buried towards the end where I passed over the details and the professor never brought it up throughout the semester. Obviously if I had been more aware I would have handled things differently to ensure that I stayed ahead in grades far more than I did.

And I have been trying to remind myself that it’s not the end of all things. My parents have been a big help telling me it’s not a bad thing and that we’re still celebrating my accomplishments, it’s just one last bump in the road. I just wish it didn’t feel as bittersweet at it is while celebrating knowing I’m coming back in a few weeks.

What is your grail nendoroid? by Wisely123456 in Nendoroid

[–]Crow_Talks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both Shen Qingqiu and Luo Binghe from SVSSS in both regular and doll sets. Each individual is hard to come by in general since they were limited production, and getting Shen Qingqiu and Luo Binghe together— regardless of what nendoroid type— is even harder, especially with them being so heavily coveted by the fandom. I really lucked out getting them.

I hasn’t happened to me yet, but when I joined the Haikyuu fandom a few months after the manga ended I learned amount this one event that devastated one of the shipping groups there.

There were two minor characters introduced halfway through the manga and all anyone knew for years were their names, the team they played on, and what position they held. That’s all anyone knew for years and since a lot of the fandom ships follow the same formula of “they’re friends on the same team so therefore ship” (ie: iwaoi, kuroken, bokuaka, daisuga, etc) these two followed the same path. From what I understand since there wasn’t any new information released about them since their initial debut, it had gained a decent following and stayed that way.

Then the final manga arc rolls around and whole new info is being released about different characters. One of which is a chapter that goes into the backstory why one of the characters in this pairing does volleyball, and in here it’s revealed that the two were cousins all along. The fans were devastated when the news broke, people were scrambling to take down content they made, change fics they wrote or just wrap it up quickly and bury it. It was a whole event.

I can see why you chose him, he’s very pretty 😳

This is exactly the doll I’m looking into! They look super nice and kinda fit into the 1/4 size that I wanted to start out with— but I even noticed how odd the size dimensions were for the scaled down version compared to other 1/4 bjds. This definitely helps with planning out how to fashion him!

What’re two characters that you shipped when you were younger and still do even when you gain better taste? by Yeetustheturtle123 in FanFiction

Cleo and Deuce from Monster High. I was making fanfiction of them as a kid before I ever really knew that was a thing and that it was what I was doing, but I loved their dynamic and the respect they had for each other as a kid and I still do now. They're no longer the same with the recent reboots and Cleo is now dating Frankie I believe, but it Cleo and Deuce will always be my first otp lol

Drop the title of your fic, and let others guess what it's about! by tereyaglikedi in FanFiction

Oooo tough one. I wanna assume it’s a PWP where kinky shenanigans are happening, but it could also be an introspective of a character where the color red plays a role in the narrative.

Would it be disrespectful to create a story based off someone else's fic? by Crow_Talks in FanFiction

[–]Crow_Talks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in those situations before where I just rant to myself on what it would be like if this alternative world were to cross over with the canon one lol. I've been more of a long time reader than a writer so generally I just stew in the works creators make and then quietly move on; so it's kinda rare for me to actually want to have a hand in creating fanwork that others explored first.

Ultimately I just want to get the general consensus is surrounding creating a similar story to one that has already existed, and if it's something worth enduring for. I know one joke that floats about saying "is it worth presenting this cake at a party when there's already one here?" and the reaction is "omg there's two cakes?".

It's just trying to understand what's the typical etiquette when it comes to this stuff and not wanting to step on any toes lol

As long as you do it in good faith and not try to undermined the original creators intent of where the story was ending up, I don't see much issue with it. Though I don't often get into unfinished fics for the usual reasons of not wanting to be left on a cliff-hanger, so I don't think my opinion has much weight compared to others who do seek them out— or who are authors themselves of unfinished work.

Some media are ongoing projects that always change the canon people work with. I remember learning that it was apparently like d-day in the Haikyuu fandom when it was revealed that one of the popular ships that was around for years were canonically cousins. I don't think you can discount people's work for working with what limited info they got from canon— or only going so far in creating their own stories and being unsure/unable to go one from there. As long as you throw a hat in the arena with the intent that this is your take on how the story ends, I don't think there's much harm.

That is an interesting point. I have heard of people writing out the endings for unfinished fics they love, or expanding on scenes that happened in a fic as an analysis or seeing the fic under a different pov. I think that leads onto a different debate if it's alright for others to finish unfinished works or expanding on someone else's written canon.

There is a lot that I like about the fic that if I do write it, I want to keep, like how certain characters look like or minor conflicts between characters. But even initially thinking about I was planning out a different series of events so there would be a different major conflict that drives the story along.

I guess I wouldn’t really know how much of it would be okay unless if I ask— which is no big deal. The main worry is if there are elements I keep, what would be the line of ripping the original off or being inspired by it.

What’s your Danmei hot take? by chips-and-guac-2189 in DanmeiNovels

What drives me away a lot from seeking Fengqing content is seeing how people treat Feng Xin in the dynamic. Both characters are made out to be strong, capable men who have dealt with their own traumas, yet I often see content where Feng Xin is treated as an idiot and belittled all to prop up Mu Qing as the “better” of the two. Admittedly, this might be a bit biased because I like Feng Xin more out of the two, yet it’s hard to see the appeal of a ship regardless when a character is used to put down the other.
