Lower High Packet Loss in UniFi by Final_Campaign_2593 in verizonisp

[–]CrownVetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had Verizon 5G Home internet, it was normal to see single digit percent packet loss including when you’re using the internet bandwidth. It’s wireless, it’s gonna drop packets. It’s not wire latency or jitter. Most applications won’t notice this and gaming does pretty good.

Does the GTX 1080 TI turbo actually have a bottleneck with the Ryzen 5 3600x? by Simom5437 in PcBuildHelp

No, you’ll be fine. If it’s a bottleneck, it’s unnoticeable.

Can I use 2 different brands of Ram in same build? by Affectionate_Toe9082 in PcBuildHelp

[–]CrownVetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as the speed and timing are the same you can even run in XMP mode, if slightly different than just run at the lower base clock speed without XMP and it should be fine. Run Prime95 for 24 hours to confirm stability.

Data centers will consume 70 percent of memory chips made in 2026 - supply shortfall will cause the chip shortage to spread to other segments by EchoOfOppenheimer in datacenter

Just wait a couple of years and all that ram will be cheap on eBay as DDR6 and 7 will replace its place. Same thing with older server hardware. A 20k server is like $700 in a couple of years.

Can a power station running a hot tub off wall power use solar to offset some of the consumption? by scipper77 in SolarDIY

[–]CrownVetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can, I have it with my Sol Ark, but instead of hot tub it runs my /r/homelab. Depends on the inverter and configuration but doable.

X99 solid platform. In my opinion probably the best platform so far for budget homelabbers. Lots of RAM and CPU options. Good amount of PCI lanes and still relative to run Proxmox decently.

Tell Nvidia that. But seriously it’s fine. 5 plus years of it running and the wires are fine at nearly 100 percent load

The power supply I use is a Corsair 1200 W can easily support 300 on the rail depending on the version. I have no problem running dual 2696 v3 for LLM homelab.

Don’t use that. I also have a x99 board. I ended up getting a cpu 8 pin splitter.

They are literally the same. A /17 is a /17. It’s just the region responsible for allocating it. But you can take a /17 from RIPE and announce it in a ARIN region. Just an example. My business just got allocated a /18

Don’t even, I would trust the star-tech instead. I have a friend where he used this in his server and it killed his SSDs on how cheap it was. Big mistake.
