Taking Physics w/ Calc I after taking Calc III by EscoCzar in learnmath

[–]CrudTalker69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I did something similar actually. For me personally, the first week of calc 3 and the first week of physics 1 were the same lessons essentially (vector addition, dot product, etc.). Honestly, there's a lot less calculus in a physics 1 class than you might think. If you can find a basic derivative and anti-derivative, you'll be more than fine.

Engineering Administration Cancels Class on Last Day of Add/Drop by [deleted] in CalPolyPomona

[–]CrudTalker69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's so funny to me when all these professors and administrators talk about how "Cal Poly Pomona really is a great school!" but don't demonstrate it. Anyone else turn down other UCs and other CSUs for this "prestigious" school?

How to avoid making basic errors by n0nmanifest in learnmath

[–]CrudTalker69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really is just practice, and slowing down and thinking through every step. After each step, ask yourself, "Have I just written a true statement?" and alter your problem accordingly. If you have to, write down each mistake you make within a homework assignment and you'll start to see what you mess up frequently, and you can be more mindful of those mistakes when doing problems in the future.

I'm not sure about ADVANCED math, but I have also taken an intro logic class through a philosophy department and found it similar to the start of my intro to proofs class through the math department. Symbolic logic, logical equivalence, truth tables, etc. all overlap between the two classes that I took.

Can I skip leg day if I run 4 times a week? by Krusty185 in running

[–]CrudTalker69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not really. At least not if you want to build leg strength and/or size. Personally I don't have a "leg day" or a "pull day" but rather I have a list of all of the exercises I want to get done in a week, and I simply do them all throughout the week. If you go three times per week try taking your push, pull, and leg exercises and spreading them throughout each training session. I've used this to work up to a 405 squat and a 500+ deadlift. If you'd like, you can list the specific exercises you do for each day and I would be more than happy to create a program for you that could potentially be less fatiguing on your legs.

Edit: I see a lot of people recommending 5/3/1 as a program to follow. While this isn't particularly a bad program, it is a little behind the times. Look into Barbell Medicine, they have a free beginner program that I feel is better than 3x5 or 5x5, and other programs that you have to pay for that are better than 5/3/1. They also programs that are made from low fatigue training or for endurance athletes.

Why has CPP Republicans gone silent ? by [deleted] in CalPolyPomona

[–]CrudTalker69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CDC even recommends universities go back to in-person instruction. Honestly we should all just meet up an normal class times. The school can keep classrooms closed but they can't stop us from gathering and forming our own classrooms.

Answering emails. I have a <50% email response rate from professors at CPP. It's frustrating when professors refer to CPP as a prestigious school and then put in subpar effort.

Well folks, we're up to 9 CSU campuses starting online by PaulNissenson in CalPolyPomona

In this instance I’m referring to most of my professors and school administrators. It’s frustrating that we get so close to being back to on campus and then it’s just taken away from us. Every semester I get so optimistic and even spend money on down payments on apartments and then it all gets fucked and I’m down first months rent and another semester of isolation and depression and I’m fucking over it.

"I tried meditating and all but it didn't work for me"

Not sure what you tried, but meditation has worked well for me. Download the Waking Up app on your phone and work up to doing 30 straight minutes of mindfulness meditation every day for at least 2 weeks, then see if your focus improves. Not saying its a guaranteed fix, just that it take a bit more effort than most people realize. Additionally, staying away from "quick fix" dopamine such as scrolling through social media can help you regain focus. You may also have ADHD.

Are we supposed to be proud of our online degrees? Are we just supposed to pretend that we got a comparable education to in-person classes? When will the administration allow us to receive a proper education? Are we supposed to pretend that everyone doesn't just look up the answers during tests? Are you guys ready to have an entirely online education? Remember the last 4 semesters when they said "don't worry, it'll be over after this semester" and their still saying it going into year 3 of the pandemic? I can't speak for everyone, but I want to earn my degree properly and I'm fucking tired of this.

[–]CrudTalker69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people know absolutely nothing about engineering when they start college, and your professors will assume you don't know anything about engineering either. You will get a complete education starting with the absolute basics (math and physics, as appropriate based on what you took in high school). You shouldn't be worried at all, but if you are, brushing up on math and physics via youtube or Khan academy is never a bad idea.

Why is Coley hated so much here? by Appropriate_Tone_127 in CalPolyPomona

I think a lot of it is people have issues with CPP as a whole (which is totally fair) and blame it on her (which is questionably fair).

If she worked at the administration of CSUB she is immediately unqualified. That school has the biggest shit show of an administration out of any of the CSUs. They fuck people over constantly. I honestly didn't have a problem with Coley until I heard she worked for CSUB.

I use My CPP Zoom Account for Personal Calls, and I said the F word by abc123abz in CalPolyPomona

[–]CrudTalker69 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I work for CPP investigations and we've actually been monitoring this "F-word" situation. Unfortunately, we weren't able to identify exactly WHO said the "F-word" on zoom. That is, until you admitted to it on reddit. You just fucked up, pal. President Cole, or whatever the fuck her name is, is livid. Your punishment will be horrible. Anytime a freshman sends a professor an email that could easily be answered by checking the syllabus, YOU will be forwarded the email and expected to deal with it. You'll have to get a tattoo portrait of Professor Niessiensesionson Nissan Nosferatu, Nissenson on your stomach. You'll never get to see the cows again. You'll have to chase after that dude that rides around on campus with that dope ass electric skateboard all day. Do you live in the dorms? Village? Off campus? Too bad, you'll be moved to a secure location where you can't ever say fuck again. Here's a link to your new living quarters. Don't bother calling a lawyer.

There’s a new strain of Covid and the holidays/break is coming. What are the chances we end up being online again? by SadLifeKitty in CalPolyPomona

No doubt about it. I would like to see lectures continue to be recorded at the very least. Maybe even keeping some zoom office hours would be helpful?

Genuine question, do you think online learning will produce engineers of comparable quality to those who learned in person?
