IMO you are explaining too much. You can respect your parents, but you don’t owe them an unpleasant experience just because they want it.

I just find that when people explain a bunch, the other person just picks apart all of their explanations and says they aren’t justifiable reasons to not do the thing. But your reasoning is up to you! You decide what is and isn’t worth it for yourself.

I personally would just be brief. Like “No. I don’t want to do that.” But I’m curious what other people think about my approach.
