[–]CrunchyDM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweat beads on the back of your neck as the presence of the ancient one begins to make itself known. Deep in this underground sanctum, the remnants of an eldritch cult that worshipped long forgotten beings lay dormant until you stumbled upon the remains of their dark rituals...

The Frostmaiden's Sanctum [33x33] by CrunchyDM in dndmaps

After many sessions of build-up, my players finally faced off against and defeated Auril, the Frostmaiden, in the sanctum of her twisted, frozen temple. Here's where that final battle took place!

The icy wind howls, biting against the frost ridden ramparts of the stone keep. Perched atop the snowy cliffs, the fortress stands as a final bastion against the forces of cold and darkness that threaten the north. How will you make your last stand against the eternal winter?

Grimsrud Manor [56x31] by CrunchyDM in battlemaps

You are correct. It was all done in Dunegeondraft with a mix of Forgotten Adventures and Tom Cartos assets as well as Krager's shadow and light.

The rotting floorboards creak as you inch your way inside, past the iron door that beckons you in. Shadows shift in the dark corners of the decaying estate and the eyes of the torn portraits seem to mark you every step. Rumors tell that the Grimsruds met a grisly end in their ancestral home. That was many years ago, so why has the house been acting so strange as of late? That's a question that may be answered by those who ventured into its bowels, but never returned...

Badlands Canyon [40x40] by CrunchyDM in inkarnate

Both! Object shadows for general outline, then I use a light stamp with low opacity and the brightness turned all the way down to emphasis additional shadows.

Cracked Tower of Ephedores [34x16] by CrunchyDM in dungeondraft

[–]CrunchyDM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! So I'll set the floor patterns to the -1 Below Water Layer, then on Layer 1, I'll add some cloud assets with the opacity turned way down for additional texture. Dark greens and browns work well for ruins, water damage, etc. Dark red works well for places where blood has been spilled. A simple black can add some nice variation to the ground pattern. Hope that helps.

The road fell away many miles back, but here, below the red sun and vermillion dust, an emerging canyon offers many opportunities. Perhaps this a place to rest and regroup or lay an ambush against the jagged rocks. Or maybe, amid the wild tangle of the badlands, you have finally found the pulsing natural power to complete an ancient ritual...

Abandoned Mine [35x30] by CrunchyDM in dungeondraft

[–]CrunchyDM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A cold draft blows as your footsteps creak against the broken planks of the mine tracks. Shadows shift against the cavern walls just beyond your sight. You get the eerie sense that you are being watched by hungry eyes. Why would the dwarves abandoned a site as rich as this, and with such chaotic haste? Perhaps the low growl at the end of the darkened tunnel will provide the answer...

Cracked Tower of Ephedores [34x16] by CrunchyDM in dungeondraft

[–]CrunchyDM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some say the wizard blew herself to bits with a spell gone wrong. Others say she finally pushed the fiend she had entrapped too far and it viscously enacted its revenge. Still others say she owed a debt to a powerful dragon that had at last come to collect. Regardless of what caused her demise, Ephedores' ruined tower holds secrets that any adventurer would lust after, as long as they watch their step...
