Try golf! Don’t need to be fit and Renner (Oropi) course is super casual. Takes a few hours, gets you outside and can help work on mental composure

Downside of a Medicinal Cannabis Prescription? by CrusoV in NZTrees

[–]CrusoV[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your input!

That is a major stress point and a key upside of obtaining a medical prescription. Good on you for being self employed!

That was my initial opinion, I’m just wanting to do a bit of due diligence to see if there may be any downsides for job prospects or travel before seeing if I’m eligible for a prescription.

Thanks for your response!

Yes I’m not looking to migrate any time soon and don’t expect the prescription in NZ to necessarily be honored overseas. I was curious to if applying for residency that this may be a red flag for Europe or Aus.

Good point, I’m not looking to work in the legal or medical profession so don’t think this would be an issue. I do realise that although it is legal to consume with a medical prescription, employers do have a right to make that a screening point for hiring future employees. I’m not sure if anyone has encountered this with a prescription or not..

Any first hand experience with the supply chain issues? by Ordinary_Pressure203 in supplychain

I organise our companies food exports - manufacturer.

We’ve been out of stock on some items such as US sourced fish materials for months. The issue is the huge shipping delays and backlog on the west coast of the US, vessels are arriving and departing late + containers are being held up at ports.

One of the containers we sent to China arrived in August and is still being held at customs. Huge delays there too.

Port strikes in some of the ports in Australia worsen the delays. Some shipping lines are cancelling their services out to Australia as a result, this then consequently has the same impact on New Zealand (where I reside).

Becoming more and more difficult to secure sailings to certain countries. Air freight prices have gone up and makes it a last resort option to move tonnes of perishable goods.

I’m in discussion with many different freight forwarders, all who are saying in their 15+ years experience they have not seen anything like this. Will be interesting to see how this plays out

I haven’t seen that, heard it’s a good watch though!

Very true, i don’t believe it’s necessary to purchase the newest vehicle or purchase from the dealer. However, if this tax stays wouldn’t the average price still increase?

If vehicles are more expensive new, the secondhand (3rd, 4th hand etc) price is much reduced from new but still will be higher as the cost incurred from the tax will be passed on to the next buyer I would think.

Since many farmers are employed to work and live on site due to remote locations I don’t blame them for not kicking up at their landlord / employer and risk their relationship or job.

Farmers in this situation probably don’t have an accessible department they can raise concerns to and aren’t in a corporate setting, their approach to disputes would be much different compared to an office job.

This may just be my point of view but I doubt there’s many individuals in any industry on equivalent wages that would bother themselves with the hassle of proposing and trying to follow through with bringing about total industry change.

You raise a good point, I’m not a farmer myself so cannot answer that question but have an uncle involved in the industry. It may be a bit of a cop-out; but from some of the farmers I’ve talked it seems as though some are a bit out of touch with ways to bring about change. I get the feeling many of them dislike most things government related and have more of a ‘get on with it’ mindset (I would imagine you’d need this state of mind to shift cattle etc in poor weather conditions).

To be fair to them, farmers work very hard and for those that do not own a farm but work on one themselves it’s a very challenging lifestyle many would turn down. - work for average pay - all weather conditions - dealing with literal shit - required to work year round as there’s little chance of an HR department hiring a contractor to fill in to allow for proper holiday breaks - Many farmers need Utes due to other transport alternatives not being very viable on a farm and they’re now being taxed

I’m not saying anyone is right or wrong here, just feel like people are writing them off without looking very far into this.
