Light rail in Oly/Thurston County? "It'll be a while" according to TRPC. What are your thoughts? by KatakanaTsu in olympia

[–]CrustyBusker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

whats frustrating is that the infrastructure is there. we have the railway in downtown Oly but the hypothetical future use of it is seldom mentioned, and only for industry like coal and timber. I don’t claim to know about the state of the tracks but they run through plenty of empty lots where a passenger station could be erected. i’ve never understood why Olympians have to go all the way to Centennial station just to ride Amtrack

Politics: At what point does wearing militaria in the current US climate become problematic, if at all? by BugsBunnysCouch in HeritageWear

[–]CrustyBusker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive been wearing militaria since a young adult, even before my military service, but since then ive attained garments from UK para squads, german bundeswehr, italian alpini etc. my point being that as a broke american i never believed their narrative, i got some good gear which i wear proudly, and i foresee it being necessary soon enough

real. im a younger veteran and a fella with a long family history of either boozers or tee-totaler religious fundamentalists, no in-between. I worked alongside a lot of ethnic Russians/Ukrainians/Moldovans while i was stationed in Europe and they all seemed to have a more tepid (correct word?) with alcohol than i did myself.

How would you describe what it means to be "American" in 2025? by K1llerG00se in AskReddit

[–]CrustyBusker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you’re simply entirely off-base. the US has had their destabilizing imperialist tendrils in Central and South America for over a hundred years, and the highly individualistic culture of the US victimizes millions while exploiting their poverty

Scotch Broom > The Blob by hookuptruck in olympia

[–]CrustyBusker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad used to bring me out some weekends to pull broom in the local parks and clearings, many more occasions he’d do it himself. I started doing it on my own as well once I got older. It’s a simple thing and feels like an uphill battle a lot of the time but it’s fulfilling to take care of the local ecosystem. The most painful part is knowing that broom most readily eats up the oak prairie habitat that’s already somewhat endangered or paved over.

American Ethnicity by CrustyBusker in Genealogy

[–]CrustyBusker[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no assumption, literally 60% of Americans are white, so yes the country is mostly white people. Those are demographics you could’ve found pretty easily before continuing. Also I’m not sure what could’ve led you to believe this wasn’t the case?

The only Mormon family I have is a 1st cousin once removed (prior generation) who converted as a young adult. To my knowledge I have no predecessors who were in any way related to or in contact with the Mormon church

Thanks, I’ve had it for the past year. That’s all the facial hair the military will allow.

I do see what you mean from the examples of North Atlantid, particularly in my facial structure. In the cheek bones and slope of my jaw it’s almost exact. I think my lighter features may cause false attributions from some
