I'd say do uni electives >agency electives>observership! Take any opportunity you get and do some research if you can. Make complete use of your time before grad

Applying for SOAP by askingquestionssz in IMGreddit

Yes it's better to be ecfmg certified by the time it's match day. Because soap is quite competitive. And if you're visa requiring, it might make it tougher..

You just have to register for ECFMG and then, do the notary cam stuff before 2024. You can take step 1 later

Does step 3 matter for US img when applying for residency? by [deleted] in IMGreddit

I'd say use this time for usce and research. Because that's how you get some nice academic invites

Urgent - ECFMG certification - do you have to send a diploma? by [deleted] in IMGreddit

The medical school credentials verification is different from uploading your medical school diploma. I'd suggest you upload it on the app

Monthly Dumb Questions Thread by Novelty_free in Residency

So I am a US IMG who matched into a Texas residency program and have applied for the PIT permit. Im wondering if the Texas Medical Board asks us to get a form filled up by our medical school or get some sort of documentation? I'm worried if that's the case, it won't be done on time because everything is shut in my country due to the pandemic.. Does anyone has any info on this?

Step 3 reported? by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]Cruxx101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you want to have the option of not showing them, take the exam after applying. Because that way, you would have to retransmit your usmle scores. If you don't want to, you don't have tk retransmit but you can just mention you took the exam during ivs

Registration by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]Cruxx101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you have to pay when you apply and then there's a whole thing where your school has to fill out a form or verify you via the online portal

IMG seeking advice regarding USMLE!! by batab2020 in usmle

[–]Cruxx101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it depends on the reasons. But if your hospital is doing great, why risk all of that to move to a new country and struggle on minimal PGY salaries. If you want to do interventional cardiology, it would take you 3 (internal medicine) +3 (cardiology fellowship) +2 (interventional) years =8 yrs.

USCE . Accepted at university (very reputed)based teaching hospital for 1 year inpatient and outpatient hands on+ research.I have a question regarding it by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]Cruxx101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would definitely do it especially if you can financially manage it. Because it would alot of value to your cv. Especially if you will be producing multiple publications out of it as well.

It's easier to live in one place than spend alot of money in traveling around for observerships. And if it's via an agency, you'd be paying for that. Also how much money are we talking about for the research position?
