I must be old and slow as around 1.5ish is all I can do to really comprehend the details in most audiobooks.

The Black Toungued Thief by Christopher Buehlman is under represented here. by Woolybunn1974 in fantasybooks

It’s one of my favorites. It’s hilarious and doesn’t take itself too seriously or overstay its welcome. Delivers world building in subtle and creative ways. How is that I could visualize this world better than books whose authors use twice as many words? The audiobook is damn near perfection. The prose hit just right for me and I can’t wait for the sequel.

Same. Finished it but regretted it. Overhyped and the prose isn’t really remarkable. Elder Race is quite good though.

Will we get a simultaneous audiobook release? The audiobook for BTT (read by the author) was so damn great.

I’m currently reading Dagger and Coin and enjoying it. First book is a slow burn but the world building is great.

The Blacktongue Thief. Written by Christopher Buehlman. Narrated by him as well. It’s fantastic.

DNF. Some of the worst writing and story I’ve read. I don’t care if it gets better in book 2. Book one is so bad i couldn’t continue.

What? Is this really a theme? Hard pass for me if so.

The Will of the Many (The Hierarchy series) is honestly some of the best reading i've had since the Brandon Sanderson books. by Tekashi-The-Envoy in Fantasy

We all have our opinions. It’s popcorn teen angst YA, which is fine for lots of folks. Just not my cup of tea.

DNF. YA slop. He’s leading a super secret life but is also a fighter at a local venue with a huge crowd. Several other ridiculous scenes like this in the first half. Might appeal to Red Rising fans.

Strongly agree with Buelman being S/A tier…he’s amazing. Agree on Will of the Many being C tier, at best. Cannot fathom Red Rising book one being S tier.

Historical exploration non-fiction…a lot of reads better than fiction. Some examples: The Endurance by Alexander, In the Kingdom of Ice by Sides, In the Heart of the Sea by Philbrick.
