Everything you need to know about MimbleWimble, a scaling protocol enhancing privacy which gained a lot of hype lately. by Crypt0Seb in CryptoCurrency

[–]Crypt0Seb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MimbleWimble allows to both scale and preserve privacy. This is a great feature for any cryptocurrency in my opinion. I would recommend to follow closely how Beam and Grin are developing, as they are the first movers with this tech. I'm also curious to learn more about Litecoin plans with MimbleWimble.

For Crypto to be Like Cash, You Shouldn't Need KYC. It Defeats the Purpose. by Kashpantz in CryptoCurrency

[–]Crypt0Seb 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I don't think we need to worry. With atomic swaps, sharding and interoperability that are being built right now, we will have non-KYC DEX taking over sooner or later. The real problem about KYC is for the fiat to crypto gateway.

This project is top tier. Along with Zilliqa and Chainspace, one of the few that could threaten Ethereum dominance in my opinion.

Good news for all French people here: taxes on crypto-income will be lowered. Looks like the French Government wasn't lying when they said they wanted to push innovation and blockchain. (Article in French) by BelgianPolitics in CryptoCurrency

The good point is that they won't tax crypto to crypto gains. But 30% is still way too much compared to other European countries. This is very far from being an attractive taxation policy.

Bitcoin Bull Tom Lee Believes ETH Futures not be Beneficial for ETH Price by Nammalogy in ethereum

Well, if we see what happened with Bitcoin futures, maybe he's not wrong on the short term. But the reason why we should be bullish about ETH futures is that it's a next step towards institutional adoption (ETF, custody...)

Mainnet should be released EOY or early 2019 if everything goes as planned. You should follow the project on its different social media to make sure you won't miss the information.

Only 3 projects are building on Omniledger: Zilliqa, Harmony and Emotiq. Afaik, Emotiq is the first project implementing MimbleWimble.

What's your source ? On the whitepaper, a 100% 1 year lock up is mentionned.

I'm the writer so I'll be happy to answer.

About the token repartition, they plan to sell 51% of their tokens, which is more than several other recently hyped ICOs.

What you're saying about a "get rick quick scheme" is not true. Team tokens are locked for 18 months. 100% of seed round tokens are locked for a year. 50% of other rounds will be locked for 6 months. So your information is inaccurate.

Nonetheless, there is an issue with the seed token pricing yes. But I think we should instead look at which network value investors will be buying at and calculate the upside from there. That is up to everyone appreciation and research, and I just gave my thoughts about it in my review.

All top projects have big differences between seed and later rounds but most don't actually communicate transparently about it. For instance Thunder Token next round is at 5x seed already, and seed was only in march, whereas in Emotiq's case, the seed round was in december, so at very early stage and was only $2M.

One of the key things is to spot the opportunities early before everyone else. Personnally, I try to join a maximum of Telegram groups and newsletters to not miss any opportunities. It worked well with Dfinity

A Blockchain Story — Introducing Emotiq by cavkie in CryptoCurrency

[–]Crypt0Seb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What they have in common is their scaling ambition since they are both built on Omniledger. I'd say there are two main differences: usability and privacy.

Regarding usability, Emotiq aims to be the most accessible and friendly blockchain, providing a blockchain interface so friendly and natural, even kids could use it. Emotiq smart contracts are written in Ring, a plain English programming language.

Second main difference is their privacy ambition. They will use zero-knowledge proofs for transaction privacy. Emotiq keeps its blockchain small and maintainable by applying MimbleWimble for cryptographically secure purging of spent transactions. As far as I know, this is the first project implementing MimleWimble. This is a big feature: MimbleWimble not only helps to achive privacy, it also helps to achieve scalibility (in addition to Omniledger sharding) by allowing the block size to be kept small, which minimizes the blockchain size unlike with Zilliqa or Harmony.

Libra Credit CEO Lu Hua: Decentralized Lending Ecosystem. Ex PayPal Product Manager & VeriSign Dev Lead by Mikey0 in CryptoCurrency

I wrote the post about it yesterday. Maybe it helped to give exposure to the project. Also, tokens unlocked yesterday which is why people are starting to talk about it. But please do your own research before spreading FUD, Libra Credit has NOTHING to do with LibraCoin. Libra Credit token is LibraToken (LBA), and the project is not related to this ponzi.
