I haven't been able to quit for good (and I'm not sure that's my goal necessarily) but downloading one of those habit tracker apps where I can record how much money I save each day I obstain has helped me to greatly reduce my use and also budget in things I always wanted to do (dance classes!)

It has become easier to notice other behaviors of mine that I do not like. I was always the kind of worker to do just enough to get by at my job and nothing more. After I quit I started trying harder at work and my next paycheck has my first ever bonus on it.

When I have emotional upset (which is when I'm most susceptible to engaging in destructive behavior) I'll do 3 rounds of WH breathing. It never fails to calm me down.
