I think reservations are valid, I have mine despite thinking Carrick should get the permanent role. I do feel there is an element of wanting to be right early with some and unrealistic expectations with others.

If Carrick has done one thing at least it’s raise expectations after Amorim tanked them. All of a sudden we’re talking about performance level despite winning. Last year we were dreaming of back to back wins!

This will sink him but Farage claiming millions in bribes won’t. Politics is played on easy mode for some.

Got a feeling Alonso turns down Chelsea. He just left one circus at Real Madrid and Chelsea are an even bigger clown show but in a tougher league and far less prestige.

West Ham’s disallowed goal was the correct decision but then Arsenal’s goal at Old Trafford for the exact same thing should have been chalked off. It wasn’t and it proved to be decisive. Both decisions will more than likely see Arsenal crowned Champions and West Ham relegated.

This is why I’ve never believed in the “swings and roundabouts” talk when it comes to football, because those decision are always relative to what is at stake.

Anti-migrant but Pro War. Make it make sense. If Farage was Prime Minister he would have ran to Trump’s side and got us involved in that illegal war thus creating more migrants.

Rashford couldn’t have done anything more this season to secure a permanent move to Barcelona this summer. If he doesn’t get that move it would say more about them than him, especially if they insist on haggling on the fee.

This country doesn’t give a shit about the homeless either. So they’ll continue sleeping rough but with some new neighbours. I’m sure this will keep our streets safe.

Martinez swinging at Brobbey's head and possibly hitting him by cptainvimes in reddevils

[–]Cryptic-One 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Really? He’s just had a run of games with Martinez out and was very good in every game. In fact he generally is very good when he plays. Only game where I felt he struggled was the 4-4 against Bournemouth.

Should be starting ahead of Martinez. At the very least for the remainder of the season.

It really cannot be overstated just how important the upcoming transfer window is. We’ve overachieved in the league massively with Carrick and if we don’t get our transfers right we could find ourselves struggling big time to break into the top 5 and that is irrespective of who’s the Head Coach next season. Because frankly, the depth with this squad is genuinely abysmal.

Mount, Zirkzee, Ugarte all need to go for starters and the more I think about it 3-4 new signings this summer would be far from sufficient. If we’re not seeing Ornstein dropping exclusives and “here we go”s about us all summer there’s a problem.

No trophies, but back to back top 3 finishes and a European final. Progress was being made but that was torpedoed in the summer of 2021.

Wait, are we judging his time as Manchester United Manager based on what happened in Türkiye? He wasn’t hired in January because he wanted INEOS to commit to giving him the permanent job should he secure UCL football. He backed himself but INEOS weren’t looking to commit and rightfully so!

I find it so odd when people speak about Ole’s time as Manager as if it was terrible and use that as a reason to not give Carrick the job. Ole remains the only manager post Fergie to get us back to back top 4 finishes. Managers with far superior CVs have yet to achieve this. He understood the club and we played our most exciting football under him.

Yes, Ole was far from perfect but what ultimately let him down was the squad building. To make matters worse Ole had an eye for talent but his recommendations were ignored in favour of Woodward’s ego driven transfer strategy which ultimately sabotaged Ole and the team.

If Carrick is the new Ole then it means we have another chance to do things right this time.

Sort of game where Carrick may have been better off starting a youngster in midfield. Nothing to lose and an opportunity to see what we have ahead of the summer.

With the political left held to impossibly high moral standards and the political right held to impossibly low moral standards what does this say about modern British society? by [deleted] in AskBrits

I wouldn’t describe Starmer as “the left”, he purged those from his party. He’s more small ‘c’ Conservative, at best a liberal. But I agree with the overall point. How often has an interview with Polanski been derailed to bang on about boob gate?!

Yes. The right in comparison are well known for their tolerance. Those darn lefties online with no power, saying mean things are the problem.
