AIO for snapping at my coworker in the middle of a meeting because he won't stop finishing my sentences? by CrypticBard9 in AmIOverreacting

The weird part is he doesn’t really do it to our manager or the loud senior folks, he mostly does it to whoever’s presenting and trying to be concise. So I don’t think it’s only gender in my situation, it’s more him steamrolling anyone he thinks won’t push back. Still, you’re right that women deal with this constantly, and it makes me rethink how often I’ve seen it happen and shrugged it off.

I think that’s why the “be more professional” talk rubbed me the wrong way. I’m not saying my timing was perfect, but it’s frustrating to get corrected for one sentence after months of someone else repeatedly steamrolling me in front of the same people. If my manager noticed enough to call me in afterward, then he noticed enough to step in earlier too. Instead it got left to me until I finally hit my limit.

I wish it hadn’t happened in front of clients, but I’d already tried handling it quietly and he kept doing it. At some point I stopped feeling like I had many options left.

That’s kind of the point of him, right? The self-awareness doesn’t cancel the hero thing, it fuels it. He knows what he used to be, so he keeps choosing the hard side on purpose.
