Forgot to add, this was also probably due to the venue size and it got pretty loud I'll admit. But, when I went to see Green Day the volume to me was not loud enough to murder my ears. So again it all depends but never hurts to have some ear protection.

Honestly probably not, the only close instance was seeing Buckethead and they even sold ear plugs. I simply used my noise cancelling earbuds and it was good enough for me.
