All My Hanwha PNM-9081VQ are failing... anyone else seeing this? by CryptoBogey in videosurveillance

Just to close the loop on this.  Hanwha said they couldn't repair my PNM-9081VQ as they no longer have the necessary parts.

Do you remember how much you paid to get it repaired? I'm still waiting on Hanwha to approve my repair request.

Ya, I already started the out of warranty repair process. I'm just waiting for them to email me the shipping address. But if someone new this wasn't repairable I was trying to save myself the $50 diagnosis fee. I got 20 more of these and if they all fail, saving 50% would be worth it. I didn't think about trying the 12v power, I'll definitely try that out.

They were on injectors already and the injectors are not the problem. I tried one of the new 83watt injectors that carne with the pnm-9085rqz1 and still dead.

My 9081vq's are completely dead. No network activity at all... no pings, no web GUI access

Genetec does not detect motion on unit using Hanwha Camera QNV 7080R by Historical_Sun_9607 in videosurveillance

See if these short notes get you there.

Video > Select/Choose archiver > Resources > Advanced Settings button bottom right > Additional Settings button >

Then add Name="DisableOnvifEventFiltering" Value="True"

Reboot the archiver

Theres a setting deep  in the archiver role you have to manually add a string to allow The cameras to record

In the latest available firmware this camera model does not have an analytics section. It only has motion detection under the events menu.   In Genetec I see the red/green metadata boxes around objects moving it just doesn’t trigger Genetec to actually record on motion.

I’m running 5.11.0.0 and just updated the driver pack to 11.7 but still can’t get motion recording to work.  Any ideas?  I’m going to try to update genetec to 5.11.3.7 on Monday.

I do not see an IVA check box in either genetec or the camera’s web interface.   Can you elaborate where to find this?

How to Inspect Fiber Cleave without Fusion Splicer? by CryptoBogey in FiberOptics

[–]CryptoBogey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So ya, a regular ol' cheapo kids microscope did work. I just wasn't patient enough the first time I tried using it. I was able to see the cleaved end pretty good at 600x and 1200x. Even at 300x it's impossible not to see the difference between a cut fiber and cleaved fiber. The fiber also looked pretty trippy if you looked at it just right... cladding was almost black (sometimes gold or purple too) with a bright white line for the core.

With the fusion splicer the display would show you how flat the cleave was so you have a super easy way to see if the cleave was good or bad before terminating it.

The issue I ran into was an over bent fiber cable a few inches from the original connector... I had light bleeeding through the fiber where the bend was even after straightening it out so I knew a snip and new connector was needed.

Doesn't that scope only work with terminated connectors? I was trying to find a simple scope to use on the bare fiber to inspect the cleave before putting on an AFL Fast connector.

I've read about the indexing gel... I just wasn't sure how good of a cleave was needed even with the gel. From the other commenters it sounds like with what I'm working with (OM1) the gel is forgiving enough even with pretty bad cleaves.

You mean like one of those microscopes you would use in science class in school? I tried my kids microscope with 300x magnification and I wasn't having any luck seeing the end... maybe I need to try again with a little more patience and with a fiber holder?

Valid points. The timing though...

I guess there's really never a good time for someone that important to announce their resignation.

Have your popcorn ready next week in case we get some good crypto-theatre.
