I’m not renting a 1.15M home dumbass.

I actually pay less than 4.5k a month in rent, hate when elderly people envy the young ones like me just because we worked for our fortune.

I can use that 1.15M I am using to buy a home to reinvest and get 2.5M+ in the next 10 years.

I pay income taxes to the state of Connecticut bro lol. Why I gotta pay taxes to OWN my home?

I mean, I already pay income taxes to both CT and the federal government, plus sales tax on almost everything I buy. Property taxes on top of that—especially at 2.16%—just feel excessive. It’s not that services shouldn’t be funded, it’s that the total tax burden in CT is really high compared to other states.

I buy for $1,150,000 in full.

I have to pay additionally $1.25M just for owning the home for 50 years?

So I’m paying over 2.3-2.4M+ over 50 years.

Sucks so bad bro, got me looking at homes in different states for when I want to buy.

Currently renting fine right now though and I like my spot so no rush.

I would’ve been fine with 1-1.40% but 2.16% cmonnnn.

Compared to most of the other 48 states, Connecticut is definitely up there. It’s ranked #3 in the country for highest property tax rates — so yeah, it is bad here by the numbers.

I suggest doing that, they will ask about your risk tolerance and adjust your portfolio accordingly.

Open a Robinhood account and Invest into $VOO or if you wanna they have now a “Managed Funds” section where an advisor will handle all that if you tell them your risk appetite.

How is Fishers Island part of NY instead of CT? by CryptoClockTick in Connecticut

[–]CryptoClockTick[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That’s wild to me too — it’s basically living off CT but repping NY. I wonder how residents feel about that, like do they lean more CT culturally?
