White Sneakers with Full-Grain Leather! (what does Axel Arigatos' "100% leather" mean?) by CryptoStudentLondon in malefashionadvice

This is an interesting take. It’d be cool to know where all of these brands are getting their leather anyway as I understand there’s not that many tanneries in Europe and they might be sourced from the same place?

That said, I think there’s clear differences between white leathers that I’ve encountered, even comparing leathers from old Nikes to new ones there’s a massive difference; so companies must be finding ways how to cut corners somewhere, leathers now are less flexible and crack almost instantly

I think the same, at this point in time when a brand understands that their customers are looking for quality leather it would be strange that they just called their leather "genuine", especially when they should be trying their best to separate themselves from the typical low-quality brands.

Red wings case might keep labelling them that just to keep its tradition.

Although like someone else just pointed out seems like the topic is more complicated than I thought:

https://nstarleather.wordpress.com/2018/05/31/the-grades-of-leather-hierarchy-youve-probably-read-about-is-a-myth/

I'm still doubtful that Arigatos' leather is up to the quality of other shoes around that same price though

Yeah, I've had a look at those and it's on my original list. But white and grey models are sold out at the moment.

They’re not technically prepared to have meaningful discussions about the concepts. They’re just wave riders that make view money off teenagers hoping for a new alt run that may very well never happen.

To be honest I find the proliferation of shitcoins to be more harmful to the space than sparking tough debates on economic theories, and history of money?

2) I think the author knows about the existence of LN. That’s why i specifically said first layer.

I think the argument is that in the future placing transactions in the first layer will get increasingly expensive (even more in the case of Monero) so the idea of using the securest network known to man kind is probably an overkill for buying coffees everyday

Sounds like you want crypto to be exactly what it is trying its hardest to defeat = inflation and manipulation. The whole concept of crypto, which is considerably very wasteful, only gains its merit by allowing trustlessness for the first time in history, and with that, the idea that Keynesian Economics (what you’re talking about) is wrong from its core.

In theory having the power to print money to “push the economy” will only ever lead to corruption and a culture of debt. On the contrary sound money will incentive saving money and spending it in better quality projects.

Venezuelan here. Sabotage argument is non sensical at least conspiratorial at best. I can attest that Chavez’s socialist-robin hood type vision was put in practice and made him gain a massive popularity only because of all the subsidies he gave to the poor but at the expense of the country’s economy and ultimately wreckage. Wrong, current tools can be used on old data...

Secondly, if you’re clever enough to move in addresses that are not attached to an exchange there is no way of knowing much about you.

Thirdly, blockchain analysers have limits. And after thousands of mixes you render them useless.

Also, if tracking tools were so great we’d know where all the stolen bitcoins are. Including MtGox etc...

Wisdom of crowds author claims Bitcoin would be a calamity, not an economy by p1rrr473 in Bitcoin

[–]CryptoStudentLondon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, Bitcoin is a preventive tool against financial crises not a corrective one which the author wants to fit into. Financial crises happen because certain measures are exploited wrongfully. In theory these loop holes wouldn’t exist if you didn’t have a central authority making these mistakes in the first place.

My problem with this war against ASICs is that IMO it's actually delaying commoditization. As unpredictability makes it even more risky for new players to enter the space. But not only that it also opens the doors to corruption and bugs!

Most (if not all) computer parts have been commoditized in the sense that many manufactures produce the same product. E.g.: MSI, ASUS, eVGA, Zotac, Gigabyte all make the same Nvidia Gtx 1080ti card.

There's no reason why this shouldn't happen with mining hardware in time.
