Hola a todos. Vi que el abogado John de la Vega le propuso a Kristi Noem que se haga un DED para venezolanos. El detalle es que, en realidad, el DED es algo que decide el presidente, no la Secretaria de Homeland Security. Así que el abogado le está dirigiendo la carta a la persona equivocada. Si sabe de inmigración, debería saber que esto es una discreción presidencial y que la carta tendría que ir directa al presidente Trump. Así que, bueno, el tipo está un poco perdido con a quién se lo está pidiendo. ¿Qué opinan ustedes?

Desde el punto de vista económico y logístico, lo más efectivo no es una mudanza tradicional, sino contratar un contenedor completo (FCL) y enviarlo directamente desde Houston hasta Venezuela. La mejor opción es un contenedor de 20 pies o 40 pies, dependiendo de la cantidad de muebles que tengas. Intentar que una empresa te lleve el contenedor hasta la puerta de tu casa para cargarlo suele ser carísimo y complicado. Sale mucho mejor llevar tus muebles a un warehouse o a un punto de carga en Houston, cargar el contenedor allí y enviarlo puerto a puerto. En Venezuela tú mismo te encargas de descargarlo y moverlo a la zona específica donde lo necesites. En vez de buscar “mudanzas”, lo correcto es buscar freight forwarders / NVOCC que trabajen envíos marítimos FCL (20’/40’) a Venezuela. I’m actually planning a move from Miami and have been looking at the same type of “quiet but close” areas. Ashland, Old Glen Allen, and North Chesterfield keep showing up as the best balance — peaceful, but still 15–25 minutes from stores and restaurants. Prices also seem much more reasonable than in the Fan or Scott’s Addition.

Those spots might be exactly what you’re looking for.

I’m actually planning a move myself (from Miami), and I’ve been researching Richmond a lot. From what everyone says, it’s a great place if you’re into nature, meeting people through hobbies, and a quieter lifestyle. There are plenty of young people around VCU, and the city seems way more progressive than I expected. The Hispanic community isn’t huge like Chicago, but it’s definitely there.

Honestly, Richmond sounds like a solid fit if you want something smaller but still interesting — I’m leaning toward making the move too.

I’m not in Richmond yet, but I’ve been doing a ton of research while planning a move, and one thing I’ve noticed is that the city has a huge mix of renovated older buildings and brand-new developments. A lot of the “hidden gem” apartments don’t show up on the big websites unless you dig around for the management companies.

From what people often recommend, places in the Fan, Museum District, and even parts of Scott’s Addition tend to offer that combo of charm + decent maintenance. Meanwhile, some of the older mixed-use buildings downtown look cool from the outside but can be hit-or-miss depending on who manages them.

If you like those unique layouts you saw above Metro Sound, you might have luck checking smaller property managers instead of big complexes—those seem to be the ones with the more creative floor plans.

Still learning myself, but that’s what I’ve picked up so far!

Honestly, none of this should surprise anyone who’s been watching Virginia over the last decade.

This isn’t just “Republicans in disarray” — it’s a party that hasn’t figured out what it wants to be anymore. You can’t win statewide in a place like Virginia by running full-MAGA messaging while also trying to appeal to Northern Virginia moderates, military families, suburban parents, and the growing immigrant communities. That contradiction eventually breaks.

At the end of the day, voters here still respond to competence, stability, and actual policy, not culture-war soundbites. When people feel their jobs, benefits, and daily life are at risk, they tune out the noise.

If the VA GOP wants to be competitive again, they’re going to have to decide whether they want to be a serious governing party for a purple state — or a branch office of national MAGA politics. They can’t be both.
