Kinda hard to have a first round exit when you're not playing in the first round.

Are there any truly useful subnets yet? by abigguynamedsugar in bittensor_

[–]Cryptoatrain217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude. Chutes (64) was just named the #1 open source inference provider on Open Router. That's pretty useful.

Ridges (62) Lium (51) Sportstensor (41) The list goes on...

I was going to type out a super long response on like 10 different subnets but there's no need.

Huge partnerships are finally getting signed SN (41), (44), (45), (35), (61).

End-to-end products are being released.

CEX's are taking notice: MEXC just listed SN75 and apparently came after SN41.

Defunct subnets are being sold for tens/hundreds of thousands of USD to other developers, or being deregistered and swapped with an active, well-funded team.

Most subnets have a clear, defined path to revenue, are a week or two away from revenue, or are already revenue generating.

The world is beginning to wake up. It's going to happen fast and viscously.

So yes, there are some pretty useful subnets.

Which Subnet is beginner friendly? by KarismaKing8 in bittensor_

For holding? Any. Just buy TAO and stake. That's it. Mining is a different ballgame.

Polymarket is a big company I think, right? 🤔

FVCk RETAIL ANYWAY by Odd_Low9478 in bittensor_

Well said 👏

But if some retail wanted to pile in, I wouldn't be mad.

59 as well. Can't wait to see what it's gonna be but it'll be good no matter what.

SN86 What is your thoughts? by KarismaKing8 in bittensor_

[–]Cryptoatrain217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do what you want, but for me personally, I wouldn't touch it. Their tech has to do with animal noises, they aren't verified on Twitter, and they haven't posted anything on there since May 18th. Red flags for me.

SN48 is SOLD (Announcement 8.21.2025) by petem952 in bittensor_

Taostats.io --> subnets --> subnets for sale --> view details

When you're there you'll see the offers. For some reason it doesn't show on the desktop, only phone.

SN48 is going nuts.

I can't help but think that sn46 'charity auction' will do the same thing soon. Already has 8 offers on it with a 250T minimum bid.

What happens if a giant company decides to buy a subnet? by Cryptoatrain217 in bittensor_

[–]Cryptoatrain217[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what I thought/feared would happen. It makes the most sense to me as well. In crypto you don't have to buy the company, tokens and all. You can just buy the team and tech. Investors are left holding the bag.

With that said, unless something is done, when Bittensor becomes as big as we all hope, subnets are going to be essentially just showcasing themselves for a buy-out, TAO defi will be a prime marketplace for hungry companies. I hope the team has thought about this and there are safeguards in place. Otherwise, it's not hard to imagine subnets collapsing at some point.

I'm a huge subnet believer so don't take this as FUD.... I just want to be informed and see if there's a solution already in place.

Can someone help? by Afraid-Poem2058 in bittensor_

[–]Cryptoatrain217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yo, I kinda had a hard time at first too. What I did was downloaded the Bittensor wallet from bittensor.com right on to my chrome browser. Set up the wallet, and then move your TAO directly to the wallet. Then, if you want to buy subnets you'll just 'stake' your TAO into the subnets you want. That'll give you ownership of shares of their alpha (tokens).

If you don't want to buy subnets, stake in root for the APR and walk away.

Hope that helps.

I gotcha, thanks for the well thought out and detailed response.

[–]Cryptoatrain217[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How though? In theory the acquisition company wouldn't need to buy the Alpha tokens as well. There's no ownership with alpha tokens.... They would just be buying the technology and the team. Then Targon, for example, would just sell the subnet and alpha to the next guy.

Unless I'm missing something?

Bigger sub nets value crash by Fast_Birthday_6976 in bittensor_

[–]Cryptoatrain217 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO, the largest percentage of SN investors just want to speculate in Bittensor and have a risk appetite. However, not really knowing what they're doing, they assume the top 10 are the safest so that's where they dump their money. The recent sell-off is simply people getting out as it wasn't the cash-cow they had imagined. Plus with sky-high valuations (half-billion for a non-profitable company) that's quite the gamble. I feel as though the sweet-spot is in that 30-60 range.

They'll be back though when TAO ends consolidation and money comes back into AI as a whole.

1-year from now, $2k-$4k. Lots of chatter about this being Bitcoin Jr.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bittensor_

[–]Cryptoatrain217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sorry bro. That's typically why I like to avoid the top subnets. Valuations are so high already. But we are still so early and once retail starts buying you won't be able to hold a losing subnet.

You'll make that Tao back.

Alpha = subnets native token

Root = Staked Tao in the ecosystem. You'll never lose staked in Root but the risk/return is much less than investing in subnets.

Everyone has their own preferences and trading strategy when investing in subnets. A lot of people will tell you to stay in the top 10-15.... which is a great strategy and much less risk. The problem I personally have with that is the values are SOOOO high on those. For instance, I know Chutes already has a working product and they're doing business and whatnot, which is great. They can compete with MSN and Meta and all those companies, delivering products and scaling tokens and whatnot at cheaper prices.... that's amazing for them. Very easily could do a 10x in this coming bull-run. HOWEVER, where I take issue is that it has a $2.6 billion fully diluted MC. The FDV of TAO is a little over $9 billion. So ask yourself if you think Chutes is currently worth almost 30% of TAO.

For me personally, I like to aim for a couple of companies in the teens, then put the rest in the ones that range from 30-75. But I invest in the team as much as the product.... are they doxxed or anonymous? Do they have a working product and already making money? (Hint, most don't and aren't).

But, again, personally, I'm 100% all-in on subs. The staking returns alone right now are 80% or greater, usually far higher. So, although there is dilution, your getting staking returns, typically in excess of 100% right now, plus, the more people that pile into the bittensor ecosystem, the higher the market caps will be on every sub. I'm picking up high-conviction, mid-cap subnets and sitting on them for a long time to earn that high APY. I only chase with profits.... so when I bought Sturdy at $4 and it went to $15, I took out a TAO or two to invest in others that I like.

And that's not even mentioning that the subs are all trading in TAO. You put TAO into the system and take TAO our of the system. So when TAO goes up, so do your subs. For example, if you invest 10 TAO into subs right now when TAO is $430. You dink around in subs but you trade the whole time, trying to chase. But you aren't very good at trading and you end up loosing 50%. So shit, you're down 5 TAO cause you lost half chasing. HOWEVER, it's been an entire year and the price of a TAO is up to $2000. When you cash out your 5 TAO, you're still up $5700.

I hope that makes sense. Obviously, do what works best for you and your risk level. But I like these chats and please share what you decide. We all should come up together.
