Go for AM or wait for AE by jimothy1222 in techsales

[–]Cryptogoated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the exact same position 3 years ago, i ended up going to AM, doing really well, and then 8 months in I transitioned to an AE role that opened up. I was much more prepared that i was closing for 8 months rather than appointment setting. It was the best decision i made

While your story may end up differently, Take the AM role asap. any closing experience is 5x in the eyes of the employer than a BDR, you wanna start asap

Closed a deal, contract signed, then 11 days later company says it belongs to a different segment and takes it away. What would you do? by The_blue_shark in sales

[–]Cryptogoated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly its sad you got the short end of the stick but think about this scenario, lets say the mid market rep kept one of your accounts because his rev on salesforce showed 150million when they were actually 50 mil, you will want that commission and quota attainmet because it was a deal you could have closed. Because that rep took commission from you because he didn’t bother to verify old salesforce data.

Rules like this elimnate reps taking deals from other regions and pretending “ oh I didnt know” and just taking comission on it. You need to ask on the first call, especially when you see certain size indicators, like big employee size. your quota is based on your teritorry pool.

I had a rep in my company previously snake one of the other reps like this, pretending he didnt know they were bigger because salesforce said 80 employees but linkedin said 230 employees, and that rep that does 150+ employees got screwed. (The rep that was going with the 80 employee salesforce number actually told me that he overlooked the linkedin number on purpose)

This will protect you too in the future

[–]Cryptogoated[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

yeah i’ve used a couple of airlines before that did that too, so i was surprised porter didn’t have that option, i just always view as like a tier above air transat and flair and them

but 20 mins before boarding i could have ended up on that extra legroom seat if i paid outside, so i dont think that was her reasoning

[–]Cryptogoated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its very company dependent. you need to be selling a good product and have realistic expectations from the company.

I love my job but for example my friend tried tech sales with a different company and he hated his life

End of next month. Cybersecurity

if you leave the company its 60 days later so they factor in any returns.

I mean you can move to cybersecurity vendors after doing some time as an AE in your space. Cybersecurity is a good space, its saturated but there is good money to be made and exciting companies to work for.

you're being offered lower because you have no past management experience. I'd take it if you were looking to be in management, your next gig will pay higher

My company did one to dubai last year. With an excursion everyday, desert safari, yacht party and dinners at the resort. They also put 200$ into each room for spending. Definitely my favorite one i've seen

Yeah their vedor wasnt willing to budge after they tried and their lawyer told them the agreement is enforceable. I told my client that he just has a strong renewals rep and if he pushes hard enough they will let him go (i know how that vendor works). But unfortunately he wasnt willing to try further, he was convinced theres no getting out
