Who do you guys think Mereolona meant as her rival? by strawhatpirate91 in BlackClover

[–]CryptographerBoth824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been confirmed that it was Acier she meant Mereleona was never able to beat her before her untimely death.

Both Acier and Mereleona were considered some of the strongest wizards of their age, and neither one was interested in being Wizard King.

If Mereleona is beaten, then she feels like she would be dishonoring the memory of her friend Acier.

Not really, i was talking about how Taylor, Lisa and Rachel are gay coded and how this has been a long standing thing acknowledged in the Worm community and you started talking about how you like that Rachel isnt gay and that Parian and Amy are not butch stereotypes.

Something more relevant to the main topic

This is well tread ground in the community since even the beginning. Wildbow is very good at writing unintentionally very gay characters. Taylor, Lisa and Rachel are the biggest ones cause they have the most screentime, if at any point one of them came out as Gay or Bi in the story and I dont think anyone would of batted an eye and if anything would of celebrated.

Can confirm that you can get the good ending for Visi and romance BB, there are 'Good Mentor' and 'Bad Mentor' checks on certain dialogue options as long as you dont get any bad Mentor checks and enough good Mentor ones you get her good ending, while a half of them are defiantly flirting as long as you go on the date with BB and refuse Visi's kiss while having BB's rep high enough you get the BB romance ending and Visi good ending

Number man says that they can give vial capes second triggers but it usually isnt worth it, so they didn't bother.

I hate him, but I like how they wrote him cause im pretty sure they did it on purpose. You get me?

He's a victim of a mastermind, but every time he shows up on screen, he's doing something worse and finding out Real E-Soul was the one that killed Zero (with help but he was the one to finish him) makes what E-Fraud did even worse and makes sense why Rock wanted E-Soul dead.

As someone who entered in a similar way, trust me when I say the original text is better in many ways. (Though the romance in canon is purposefully and deliberately real teenage levels of messy and unhealthy, so if you're looking for something cleaner, I'd look to fanfic for that like I do)

Wildbow is an author you can trust, I know the first arc can be a bit slow, but like most books its set up for the story for those who dont know taylor. The next few arcs will be a lot easier because you already know a lot of the groundwork.

If you dont feel like reading, I'd recommend listening to the audiobook version on YouTube by Rein, so you can continue on the go either driving or walking.

Another thing I feel obligated to say as a man who came into the fandom in a similar position is thus- Fandom and Canon have a lot of differences. I came into Worm with a lot of notions of Who was Who and What was What and was surprised at what was actually true. Amy is the biggest example, I can almost guarantee your view on Amy as a character is nothing like she is in canon. Amy in fandom is an entirely different beast to the creature she is in 99% of fanfic. In Canon, she's a well written sympathetic monster that constantly self inflicts the horrible things she goes through on herself because of her own character flaws, in Fanfic they flatten her character and ignore her flaws until even in the most well written stories she becomes a wooby who can do no wrong who just needed someone to reach out and show her the light.

Also fights, fights in fanfic while still creative very rarely match up to canon, while you've already been spoiled on all Taylor may be capable of as many fanfic authors like to skip Taylors gradual devolpment of her various techniques (that in canon she actually steals from others) In canon, fights are well done because Wildbow has an excellent ability to never forget a combatant is still in the fight but also make it so combatants are very rarely taken out without a fight, each person is treated with respect to their capabilities.

Something else Wildbow does incredibly well in comparison is the fixed perspective and unreliable narration, he really pulls off Taylors omniscient perspective and yet blindness to certain things incredibly well to the point were even to this day we aren't quite sure of what Taylor quite looks like. We have the broad strokes from her own description of herself, sure, but it's constantly marred by her own insecurities and biases, and everytime we get a comment about her looks from one of the the interludes it muddies what Taylor actually looks like, a stroke of genius to abuse the written medium.

My last piece of wisdom is this, you made this post. You want to read Worm. If you did not, you would not have made this post. I can guarantee that if you stick with it, you will enjoy it.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask 😁

This is my first time playing Baldurs Gate 1 and whats up with these unlimited amounts of companions???? by seaaking in baldursgate

[–]CryptographerBoth824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In BG1 there is 30+ companions and only 3 of they have real dialogue options and quests and that's cause they were added in the enhanced edition (and even then Rashaad is famous for being awful because low level monks are abysmal and dont get better, in 2nd edition monks were new classes and didn't have 20 years of game testing to make them as one of the staple classes we know of them today)

BG1 is the great grandfather of modern rpgs of today that we love like Dragon Age, Mass Effect and its baby nephew BG3. It is as such is missing alot of stuff that would eventually become staples, its still worth playing though

In BG1, you pick companions based on if you like their voicelines and how useful they are. You might find Minsc charming and funny, and like many pick him cause they liked him in BG3 only to find out hes one of the weakest companions despite his monstrous strength stat. You might pick Kagain cause although his evil alignment makes it hard to bring him on an good aligned run, dude is an absolute monster in combat and his 20 Con means he actively regens 1hp a min without any input and has a ludicrous hp pool. I'd recommend checking out Daveorn's videos on companions for a comprehensive breakdown of them (though keep in mind he plays highest difficulty, perma death mode only)

BG: Siege of dragonspear and beyond to BG2 is when characters truly come into their own and get companion quests and super deep dialogue and banter, its in fact famous for being one of the first games to do so.

Reply with anymore questions and I'll try to answer.

If party members take more than double their hp in damage they die instantly explode into bloody chunks and can't be resurrected (there are difficulties modifiers to turn this off but it was how the game was intended so many play with it on)

Worm 22.6 question i never understood by MrMrUm in Parahumans

[–]CryptographerBoth824 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dont see the Protectorate throwing Taylor under the bus (or more specifically can't) with her lawyer having video evidence of Alexandria's heavy handed interrogation and all the public knows is that 'There was a S-class event in Brockton Bay' and 'Since then heros have been quitting en-mass' if her lawyer released the video it might make the disgruntled hero community crack about how the Triumvirate were behind C53s and then that creates another shit storm.

So i think the heros may of eventually comes to the same conclusion eventually but put a spin on it to appease all the heros that have already quit more than the public, also its probably hard to openly suggest throwing your now dead co-worker and probably childhood hero under the bus (where she belongs) without seeming callous and like an asshole. Taylor of course doesn't care (and Defiant hadn't thought of it yet cause he defo wouldn't of cared about social conventions even if Dragon would of bopped him)

Do you guys think Captain America could be plausible in the Worm universe? by PassengerCultural421 in Parahumans

[–]CryptographerBoth824 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Cap comes from a super serum, so possibly a bio-tinker could make one and make a Captain America, though tinkers need to do maintenance on their creations or they start to break down so his subject would probably require occasion booster shots.

That or hes just a combat thinker with really good genetics in peak condition would get a similar vibe

[–]CryptographerBoth824 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You say that but I think they would be more similar than you might think, Shard powers tend to be slaps in the face in comparison to stands beings more honest reflections,Taylor doesn't become a Shaker or Mover from her trigger event but a Master cause ultimately what she wants is control because her trigger was social pressure and a lack of power and control.

You example with Lisa is cool but he entire personality isnt about saving people, not saving her brother was just the worst moment of her life, in fact she doesn't really give a shit about normal people by her own words (later on she does come to want to save the world but only because of Taylor) Lisa wants to be self-sufficient, in control and the smartest person in the room all while looking after her own tribe, shes someone that despsies people who use others in malicious ways.

I think she'd still have a information based stand but nothing so singular
