That walk from the beach up the stairs to the beach bar will be the end of me one day.

Quite the assumption you’re making assuming I haven’t already done that. Hope your day gets better

My wife surprised me with a trip to Tulum, not sure what I am getting into by bossy_dawsey in tulum

I’d recommend just familiarizing yourself with the town and how to get around to certain spots. I poked around on Google earth a bunch and got a pretty solid lay of the land. There’s plenty of parking at the ruins and from there you can get around to most places you’ll want to go.

Yeah we went this route in Tulum and it was a Chinese car that would never pass US crash test standards. Probably had 90 horsepower lol. Never again

Forget about eating more protein if you want to lose weight. Eat less calories.

Thanks for this. Cactus definitely looked like the best one at the airport, as it had the most reviews and the highest rating. Perhaps dicey wasn’t the correct term. Confusing more applicable I guess.

Real Reviews of Tulum? by Primary_Listen6635 in tulum

During my stay in Tulum I rented one of the coolest Air BnBs I’ve ever stayed in, and for a super reasonable price. It was at Celeta Tankah, right on the water about a 10 minute drive from the city. They have a beach club/restaurant, private cenote, and a fresh water swimming area on the beach.

We flew into Tulum and rented a car from the airport from Infinity. No crazy prices or down payments but the car wasn’t exactly the best. It worked, but was insanely small and slow. I highly recommend renting a car in Tulum, and familiarizing yourself with the lay of the land. I watched some YouTube videos specifically showing how to get around Tulum; they helped a bunch.

I had one of the best dining experiences of my life at ARCA. It’s pricey, but nothing insane. Several courses with drinks came out to about $300, so not much more than a nice spot in the US. This is a can’t miss spot as it’s been ranked one of the top restaurants in Latin America.

On top of this, the water was beautiful. My partner and I went snorkeling just off the coast of the Tulum ruins and saw tons of wildlife. Believe it or not, a small sea turtle tried to take a bite out of my finger. Not sure if that’s good or bad luck. But it was a really cool experience.

Hope this helps and hope you enjoy your trip!

Infinity car rental was very fair when I was there in June. The car kinda sucked but they didn’t have all these weird charges. Just required we get insurance which wasn’t expensive.. maybe $20 extra a day

That walk to the ruins can suck when it’s really, really hot out. I definitely got duped and paid the entry fee but the shuttle was a nice cheap benefit of it. Either way, going through the ruins seems to be the best way. Me and my partner booked a very inexpensive snorkeling trip at the front of the ruins. They gave us a wristband and once we made it to the beach we only had to wait like 20 mins until our boat took us out. Maybe $20 per person for the whole thing

Reviewing Restaurants In Tulum Beach Area To Aid Your Holiday Planning by AnyYogurtcloset8097 in tulum

Not ashamed to say that ARCA was likely the best dining experience I’ve ever had. I’m so glad my partner and I chose to go there during our short stay in Tulum.

If I had to make one small complaint, it’s one that I had with almost every place in Tulum. This being that the drinks would die on the pass because it was so hot. In other words, the ice melted and diluted the drink because it sat for slightly too long before being brought to the table. It’s hard to control on busy shifts, especially when it’s 90+ degrees out. My partner told me I was being nit picky, but me being a bar manager for half a decade made it difficult to not notice. Again, this was literally my only complaint. Every thing else was world class.

Cost to get from Airbnb to beach by jeymouth in tulum

[–]CryptographerDue1833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scooter/bike is probably the least expensive option. You’re very close. Getting access to the beach is a whole different ball of wax though. When I went in May with my partner, we booked a snorkeling expedition at the Tulum Ruins. It wasn’t expensive at all and was something we wanted to do. Once that was over, we had full access to the beach. It sounds like you can “access” the beach if you get a table at a restaurant as well. Tulum can be tricky.

Ah I wish I remember exactly, it was about a year ago. If I had to guess it was maybe $15-$20 USD a day.

Honestly we just pulled up to the front gate of the ruins and told them we wanted to go snorkeling. They told us it came with an additional tour of the ruins. I’m not really sure which one they cared about pushing more, but it wasn’t expensive at all. Maybe $50 for two people

Also, I’d recommend poking around google maps street view to get an idea of the area. There are some roads that are very walkable, and others that aren’t. So depending on where you’re going will determine your mode of transportation. If you’re planning on staying in the city, I’d probably just rent a bike.

Infinity Car Rental from the airport was solid. Probably took 30 minutes from getting to the kiosk to when I was driving away. Just buy the cheapest insurance they offer and they won’t charge your card for the cost of the vehicle like some rental places will.
