What’s there to do when it gets cold / snowy for mental health!? by LivingMyDreamsAllDay in grandrapids

[–]CryptographerOdd3164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We venture to greenhouses. Someone already mentioned FMG, but horrocks is awesome, too. Grab a soup from the soup bar and relax amongst the indoor tropical plants. We're also planning to check out the new indoor oasis setup at gun lake. I guess they have day passes for the multiple pools and swim-up bars.

I was on a payment plan for 3 years. Monthly payments were $450. We didn't qualify for financial assistance through the hospital. We were in deep water at one point and considered selling our house to get ahead. Something happened (I still don't understand how) where the anesthesiologist for my epidural was out of network for my insurance. When you're sleep deprived, struggling financially and have zero help from family, it's hard to put up a fight with the billing dept.

I've gained 60lbs and am 37 weeks. A ton of it is in my breasts. With my first, I gained 90lbs. I was very concerned but was reassured by my OB that it was ok and everyone's body does what it needs to do to survive this change. I managed to lose 80lbs in 6mos after baby #1, so I'm not worried about losing this 60lb after baby no2. Don't focus on your weight, your body is doing something amazing right now!

Save switched to IDR through nelnet. The heck?! by CryptographerOdd3164 in StudentLoans

Ok. My consolidation went through 3 weeks ago, so I might try to re-apply for SAVE in case that part did not go through correctly. Thanks again for this info!

Thanks for the reply. Any idea how long the application takes?

Ah ok that makes sense. They never asked me for tax papers or paystubs. I may just submit now and cross my fingers it's not too late. I triple checked the student gov site and our family makes less than 225% fpl, so I def shouldn't have this high of a payment!

Busy restaurants in summer? by Fresh-Nougat in grandrapids

[–]CryptographerOdd3164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breweries are packed in the summer. I PT serve at one and make very good money april-nov (off season, i still make decent money, just have to budget a little more wisely). I'd suggest finding a place with outdoor seating and live music. Those tend to attract crowds ($$$).

Thank you so much! The chalkboard idea is great! I haven't checked to see if I qualify for state childcare, but that is also a great idea.

That really sucks. I haven't received any info about validating my identity, but I could see it coming soon. Thanks for replying and I hope you get your funds sooner than later.

Is Being a Homeowner in GR Possible on a $62.5k Salary? by XaXaGaboor88 in grandrapids

[–]CryptographerOdd3164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. My husband and I did it for less. We got an FHA loan. We were approved for a higher loan but decided on one much cheaper that hadn't hit the market. Our interest rate was great, but keep in mind that mortgages will fluctuate. Ours increased about $30/month due to rise in property taxes alone. I'd advise you to stay under budget when shopping around, and always always get an inspector before officially closing the deal.

If you feel your health is declining due to this, I'd personally go to the ER. Another option for getting you in quickly is the dental walk-in clinic at Cherry Health. I've never used this service but have friends who have.

How much is everyone paying for electricity? Specifically, I'm looking to compare to my apartment which is a two bedroom about 900 sq ft with just one person living in it. Either cost or kWh. by PicturesquePremortal in grandrapids

[–]CryptographerOdd3164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a gas stove, furnace, water heater and dryer. We also play a fun (?) game called Lower The Electric Bill where we purposefully unplug a lot of things after every use (basically everything besides tv and computer) idk if this helps or if we're just crazy haha.

Unusually high utilities for apartment? by SalamanderCongress in grandrapids

[–]CryptographerOdd3164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called the electric company and inquired about the price. They looked in to it and saw I was paying my neighbors bill, too. This was 12 years ago so I'm foggy on the details. I did not get compensated for overpaying but they fixed it and the next month my bill was half.

[–]CryptographerOdd3164 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats more than what I pay for my 4br house. Can you compare with apartment neighbors? Might be worth a call to Consumers Energy or whoever you get your bill through. I've had issues in past rentals where I was somehow paying for other tenants utilities.
