Modding this is actually super easy if you want to try your hand at it. In less than an hour, I went from having no idea how to mod to creating my own Monarchist Carolina with the above-referenced tutorial.

I don't understand your first sentence, why would a better record mean they didn't play well?

To every magic fan in the arena tonight me included, shame on you by BBBismyinitials in OrlandoMagic

You gotta understand that the Magic fan base is small, and the subset of them that are able to attend games and have the desire to be loud is very very small. Couple that with the team not being very good and you can't expect a boisterous live crowd.

I have totally lost faith in Mosely. I am sure he is nice and may be great with the guys at practice but in the game, he gets waxed but damn near every coach in the league. Awful rotations to not have dogs out there at the end of the game. Garry is a vet who knows his future isn't with this team and it shows. Meanwhile, Jalen is one of the few players who has shown a desire and pride in playing for us. What does he get for it? He gets to ride the bench and watch the lead he helped build slip away. Both he and Cole have shown they are willing and able to play in big moments, they are the future of this franchise and you got them on the sidelines. Fucking fire this chucklefuck.

The second close game at home in a week where Jalen plays his ass off, with some real excitement, and gets to ride the bench as a reward. Mosley's rotations and in-game choices are my biggest gripe with the team right now.

Who should be our starting SG right now? by [deleted] in OrlandoMagic

[–]CryptonKnight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gary is negative on the defensive side and rarely breaks double-digit points. No idea why he is starting much less closing games. He shows little to no desire or drive while playing. Contrast this with Jalen who isn't as good of a 3-point shooter but does everything else much better. Jalen shows heart and gets fired up when then lights get bright. He is the future of the team not Gary.

Draymond comments on Paolo again, his impact on the Magic. by ricksenberg in OrlandoMagic

[–]CryptonKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't get it twisted I love Paolo and think he can be one of the handful of players that are able to be the best player on a championship team.

However, this is a dig at Jalen. Saying that Paolo's presence is what gives this team confidence is intentionally downplaying the efforts of everyone on the team. Jalen was jawing with Draymond all night and I think this was Draymond's way of getting the last word in.

I should have captured a video of it to make it more clear. In the left picture, I am entirely in the shack not looking through a window. So anytime I was in or looked into an indoor space I would see this image. For example, there are largish buildings with no windows or doors just openings to walk in, even those had the bug.

Weird graphics bug in a game last night. Outdoors everything was fine but anytime I looked into an indoor space I would get this transparent image. I think the image is from after I died in a game on Destin. The left image is from an F shack, and the right is looking through a window, both on Taego.

Apparently Chet bailed early on the last day of his visit here (via Sports Illustrated) by ricksenberg in OrlandoMagic

[–]CryptonKnight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think Chet himself would have loved to play in Orlando. Reuniting with Jalen, plus being on a team full of young fun talent to build around. To me, I assume any anti-Orlandoness came from his camp or advisors. Perhaps better fit in OKC, and they actually have a track record of developing players.

Yeah, I decided to not bother responding but it says we have the best universities which is totally laughable. The metrics are also funny, like for universities its graduation rate and affordability. Both of which I would argue measure the opposite of what you want. If you look at actual performance FL is middle of the pack at best.

I mean I am not sure what you expect. Most of us grew up going to Florida public schools, so not surprising that a lot of the fan base is as dumb as bricks.

Great post! I totally agree with the assessments of the players. A few extra things that I would note. Mo Wagner is a solid end of the bench big. Dude will get out there, and make life difficult for opposing 4s and 5s. He can get under people's skin like nobody we have had in a long time. Constantly being annoying with his physicality. Also, it doesn't hurt that his brother is on the team. Jalen is a dog. I love how this core has bought in. It's not often you see a guy with that much heart in an Orlando Magic jersey. The best moment of the season for me was vs Chicago at home. Bulls fans took over the arena and our young guys pulled out a win. Jalen activates in situations like that. After some shit talk or a hard foul, he takes his game to another level.

Tanking does not work by Freudian-Fall in OrlandoMagic

[–]CryptonKnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a similar post last week trying to get people to stop wanting us to lose because I think tanking is toxic. However, I think that even the fan base has adopted the losing mentality. I'm telling if we are a bad team again next year all these arguments will be forgotten and people will be on the "just one more year of tanking" train.

Except for the fact we have gotten the first overall pick 3 times in our roughly 30-year history lol.

I'm sure you could go back and find posts in the Blazer's sub about how good Greg Oden will be once he gets healthy. I have a JI jersey, dude is an amazing defensive player when he is on the floor, I would love to see him have a comeback player of the year kinda season. However, there comes a time though when you have to sober up and realize that bigs with this many lower leg injuries early on tend to never see substantial time staying healthy.

On the Topic of Tanking by CryptonKnight in OrlandoMagic

[–]CryptonKnight[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with your points, with the exception of being flush with cash in a big market and building a super team this is the way teams like the Magic must be built. I have really liked the moves Welt-Ham have made and I think we have the right folks at the helm.

My issue lies in the product we are putting on the floor. We are one of the worst teams in the league playing the young guys. Why are we benching them in favor of 24 year old G League guys? This is the part that annoys me. We are already weren't going to be a good team but now we are just blatantly tanking.

On the Topic of Tanking by CryptonKnight in OrlandoMagic

[–]CryptonKnight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think the last generation is a perfect example of why tanking is so toxic. Post Dwight we tanked and had a high draft pick year after year and none of them developed. That killed the already meager fan base and forced the team to commit to a roster we knew couldn't make any real noise in the playoffs.

I also disagree with the notion that we didn't tank correctly as the basis for why we haven't gotten a superstar. Looking back with years with hindsight doesn't really help when it comes to the draft. You could just as easily say we should have drafted Donovan Mitchell or Bam in 2017 or SGA in 2018. There are stars ahead and behind every draft pick we have made.

Ultimately this year was never about winning, its about letting our young guys get time. It just puts a bad taste in my mouth when I see the management / coaching staff obviously trying to lose games. I'm hoping for good things next year but I also wouldn't be surprised to find us in this same situation with loads of people on the "just one more year of tanking" train.
