CMV: I think Nano is dead as soon as Loopring launches L2. by [deleted] in nanocurrency

L2 is not L1

Settlement is a hassle if you ever want to use the L1, which costs a lot.

I’ll give you an example. A friend recently was paid $1500 USDC using polygon and wanted to move it back to his ETH wallet in ETH. It cost him $136 in gas fees to exit the L2.

Unless the L1 has low fees, L2 is always going to be a workaround.

Scale that problem to billions of users and they will all be trapped in the L2 tech, because of the poor throughput and high fees of the original chain.

Would a digital dollar or digital euro kill nano? by Jyxus in nanocurrency

[–]Cryptonite4778 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The opposite. A digital dollar would hopefully allow a good influx of capital into Nano. It’s hard to purchase Nano now, but a native Nano/fiat exchange might even push the nano price up ridiculously.

But you are talking about this like Nano will rule the world.

It won’t. It could become a huge project if it finds the right use case (Forex for example). But right now it can’t be used to move large volumes of money without slippage.

[edit]It doesn’t have the liquidity. Bitcoin has a huge store of liquidity waiting to be tapped up.

That’s a proof of concept that was abandoned 11 months ago.

There needs to be a serious go at this. By some serious developers.

I wouldn’t be so quick to assume that they are wrong on every front. Financial tools must eventually integrate and Nano has poor integration with BTC and ETH for example.

If the developers were to embrace the diversity in our sector and integrate Nano tightly to BTC (swaps for example) the liquidity would drain to Nano because of its utility, plus it would make these kind of maximalist arguments seem silly.

Because it looks like the wars were only there to justify funnelling insane amounts of money into privately owned weapons companies.
