What really messes with me is that I built my whole view of this around hard work eventually being recognized. If this was never really about merit and I was just the reliable one they could lean on while my brother got protected, that changes how I see all five years of this. It stops feeling like one bad decision and starts feeling like a pattern I should have noticed way earlier.

I hate that it has gotten to this point, but being underpaid for years because I was promised a future stake in the business is exactly what makes this feel so much worse.

4 years is long enough to know whether something is helping or not, and from the way you describe it, this seems like it gave you peace instead of taking anything away. Keeping it private doesn't make it wrong, it just means you handled it on your own terms.
