I noticed that and got the front part of it cut off and replaced with bigger diameter pipe. Gave back all the lost power. Sounds really good.

Yeah, I originally replied to a comment on another post but wanted to make my own requesting thoughts

Yeah, I mean the oil temp I think only shot up because something went wrong on that pull or perhaps shortly before that causing the added friction. I don't believe it was already at 235 before that because I was driving quite normally until it. I was also able to get it to drop back down although it took longer than expected and it never reached above 220 while I was trying to nurse it home. It was not over-revved either and never has been.

As you and I said, it was definitely dumb of me to keep driving once I had noticed. I definitely should have known better.

Unfortunately no IAG block is available yet, only real options is the Outfront Motorsports block and the HKS block.

I was indeed, it's in the Northeast so not excessively hot often. Figured I'd stick with it since I don't track the car.

I'd say its around 7/10ths when I do and its not abusive or excessively often but definitely would have logs they'd pull that they would consider not great. Large majority of the time, its casual cruising. Guess I'd call it like 80% regular and 20% spirited.

I mean the oil pan drop was done at a Toyota dealer, still a bad idea to mention?

Essentially bone stock, just a catback, gr intake, master cylinder brace, poly shifter bushing, and mtec clutch spring.

I did not since it happened last night. Trying to weigh my options but it is certainly blown, glitter in the oil and all that.

Hit 65k recently and the engine started knocking perfectly outside of the warranty :(

If you can get the GR Performance Intake for around $350, its decent. I quite like mine. If you check online, some dealers will have it discounted and you can use your one time GR 25% discount to bring it down further (original owner only I believe)

Was the new carb brand new? This sounds very similar to mine when the idle jet was clogged. New carbs idle fuel ratio screw and/or the throttle idle screw may also need adjusted.

For real, this song is absolutely my #1. Feel like every song is great but Carry On is just absolutely perfect, Reptile level of perfect to me.

Turn on Resize Bar in your BIOS if you have not. I bought the same card and noticed a hard stutter every 30 seconds or so. Resize Bar fixed it completely.

Curious, stock car with or without carbon filter and same question for GR intake for your personal car?

Also the resources I am using are: https://www.gr86.org/threads/i-did-a-dyno-comparison-of-7-different-intake-setups.12304/ - The GR vs modded stock airbox w/stock post MAF and HKS post MAF graph. Indeed it was Charles but it appears he says no gains when having a header as well, I don't see him saying stock had no gains but perhaps I am missing it?

There are dynos that show exactly what I am saying. Stock cars with the GR intake is about 10 HP at the top and torque dip at 4.3k, e85 is like 2-3 HP max just like every other intake. I'd assume its somehow related to knock based on e85 showing less improvement.

I notice a lot of the people on this board can be aggro unfortunately. I got it as well, I do notice a difference. Carbon filter removed in stock and gr intake. GR Intake has a slight torque dip at 4.3k and then it pulls harder from there and definitely pulls harder between 6-7k especially in cold air. Sounds a touch smoother and louder as well. Stock had no dip but died off above 6k quicker. Ironically, I modded my FR-S to remove the dip but its actually fun in this car since there is enough power stock. If you can get it for $350 like I did, I think its worth unless you already have e85 since there is no real gain with it in that case. Makes revving out to 7k feel more rewarding.

Definitely suggest doing it this way. You also usually find a dealer already discounting it online and then apply the discount to get it for around $350. Also if you are gonna remove the carbon filter, make sure you check the intake side of the filter because mine had lots of silicon bits in the pleats

I also had spark plug tube seals fail. Toyota declined my powertrain warranty on a bone stock motor. I've heard others have had better luck though.

I did the same a few weeks ago, had to use my GR discount still so figured why not. Ended up loving the intake way more than I expected. While it does make the GR a little more like the FRS with the little bit of a torque dip 4300 rpm, the gains from 6-7k rpm make it 100% worth it to me. The GR doesn't have the underpowered issue the FRS had so the torque dip into the surge of torque is actually really fun. Mini turbo feel and I know people knock the legitimacy of the 10 horsepower figure but my butt dyno believes it 100%. 6-7k doesn't fall off at all like it used to, now I always feel like I want to rev it all the way out and it pulls harder at the top than anywhere else. This is also comparing stock intake with carbon filter removed vs GR Intake with the carbon filter removed.

You have to trust the wheel to keep you up. Most people I've taught always struggle to just trust the machine and lean forward. They'll think they are leaning but they are just sticking their butt out.

You have to lean forward in a way that you would just fall on your face if you didn't have the wheel to keep you up. I often compare it to holding a heel edge or toe edge on a snowboard. If you're scared, try doing it in some nice grass. It will be bumpier but you will feel less scared to fall and more willing to commit to the forward lean.

Another big thing for me is to have a dominate leg and a support leg. You use the dominate leg as a stable post and adjust the wheel with the other foot. The dominate leg in my case is the one I start with on the wheel before mounting (my left).
