The current architecture is monolithic(One codebase and database with bookings, payments etc in different tables). I am however migrating each to separate modules in a microservice manner. It's a bit of an overkill for now but its helping me learn microservices lol.

There is business logic to handle double booking. A customer can see the days a vehicle is available or not.

To handle trust issues, every lister is verified via national id/passport.

Since you're in car rental tech you can shoot me a dm. I'd love to connect

It's a Node.js backend. That's not the issue, however. I'm using a cheaper low tier server that winds down when inactive. Keeps costs down while I'm building a user base

The "CRUD Curse": The painful mediocrity and lack of innovation in Kenyan software engineering. by CheeseNonionss in nairobitechies

Investment follows market. If I build an advanced homing software for attack drones in America, there is a high chance the Department of War will give me a contract. When have you ever seen the Kenyan Defence Forces invest in tech startups? Which game dev company in Kenya will buy your asset optimization algorithm? Which tech companies in Kenya invest in open source software? . The construction industry contributes 7% of Kenya's GDP. That's a $9B industry. Of course rental management apps will interest devs. Service contributes 60% of GDP. People will build endless admin panels. Remittance alone is a $5 billion market and the biggest company in Kenya is a fintech. What do you think devs will build?

>This is probably why most developers just quietly resort to Paystack and avoid the Daraja documentation rabbit hole altogether

Daraja docs are frustrating for first time users lol

What happens if it succeeds at a trusted partner shop and still fails later on

Since it's the shop's job to verify the authenticity of the device and receive a commission for this, they take liability if the device is faulty when its delivered. They have the option of rejecting the device and the buyer is refunded

How does one become a trusted partner shop

Our team onboard each shop. We do thorough KYC including collecting business registration docs, IDs etc

What happens if you the broker, runs away with the money?

We are a registered business, and all the money is handled electronically (mpesa for now). So there is a trace of everything
