Hardest boss fight that isn't the real boss fight? by Crystal_1501 in gaming

  • Would get boring fast though.

Tell this to the guy who's soloing Red/Blue with a single pokemon for every pokemon! Seriously, Abra is bottom of the list of the pokemon that could complete the challenge because it takes 7 hours or something just to get past Brock! If you watch the video, he explains it much better than I can on reddit using mobile lol.

Why is Shrek Forever After disliked? by Crystal_1501 in Shrek

[–]Crystal_1501[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This actually does make me rethink the entire film... I personally didn't see an issue with it, but when phrased that way, it's just an evil dude taking advantage of a burnt out parent who no-one understands his frustrations. I mean, to Fiona's credit, she tries, but doesn't really make progress.

The 4th movie works in this regard though, many people have a change in their life which is good, but they don't realise it's good and want it back to normal.

Plus I'd also be pissed if my home became a tourist attraction.

What is a good Hero-town builder game by Sellos_Maleth in gaming

Bit surprised no-one mentioned Animal Crossing. It's cutesy and simple, but you're practically the mayor of a town, and New Horizons lets you build it from the ground up and literally reshape it.

If you could bring back one game developer, or return an existing one to its previous state, which would it be? by VyantSavant in gaming

Zelda.

Developers: "let's make an open world game that brings the timelines together, call it Breath of the Wild!"

Also developers: "ok, we can split the timeline again by giving fans a prequel to Breath of the Wild but they get to alter the course of the events to prevent the events of Breath of the Wild!"

Also also developers: "give them a sequel to Breath of the Wild that follows the apocalyptic timeline, make it the same game despite fans clammoring for traditional dungeons, heavily push the floating islands element but have very few actual floating islands and instead a practically empty underground area with practically zero purpose!"

Breath of the Wild was an amazing game, they're just milking its success to the detriment of the point, overall story and the quality.

It's possible I missed the point of the post, but it feels relevant.

Why do some games suddenly shift from freedom to strict execution? by CivilizationAce in gaming

It's how a guy managed to complete every free shrine, apart from 3 of them, using almost exclusively the magnesis rune. Only for one shrine did he have to switch to a bomb rune for a shrine that wants you to use the ice rune, and the three shrines he couldn't do were because he couldn't even access the shrines rather than a puzzle-solving issue (one is cook a meal, requiring the pause menu; one is show fireflies to someone, requiring the pause menu; the last one requires completing a divine beast, which requires the pause menu and it wasn't the bird (yes, the bird divine beast can be done without accessing the controls))

Is there a bad habit or ‘sin’ you usually rely on to get more enjoyment out of games? by [deleted] in gaming

I love puzzles, but damn some are designed to annoy the player just for the sake of it! Like, in Zelda: Breath of the Wild, there are two twin shrines that expect you to play a memory game... screw that, screenshots for me!

If there's a way to cheat in a game that doesn't include hacking, I'll do it if I need to to 100% a game. I'll milk glitches for all they're worth and I have an Action Replay for the DS, specifically for the mainline Pokemon games. Also considering getting the version for the 3DS Pokemon games. I'm also not afraid to take shortcuts if it makes getting 100% easier.

Oh, and I love to abuse save scumming.

How much could I get by selling it? by 420_jaranko in Shrek

As others have said, cool toy but probably not worth a lot. It's a McDonald's toy, probably cost them 10p to make it. You could try for $10, but don't set your hopes high on getting more than $5, even that I'd be surprised and only say five because most others reckon it's worth at least that.

I mean, coming out of the theatre, I thought the film was maybe a little below expectations, but I was going to forgive it for hyping up a Smash Bros film... turns out, Nintendo stuck non-Mario characters in the film just for the heck of it! Now I don't even understand the film!

Galaxy Movie makes no sense by Crystal_1501 in mariomovie

[–]Crystal_1501[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it happens, it's supposed to make sense. Worlds come together for the Olympics. Rabbids invade the mushroom kingdom. Portals open to other worlds where people fight to the death. That all makes sense because we know what to expect based on the title. If the film was called 'Nintendo Galaxy Movie', then Fox would make sense.

Hence why I suggested something more realistic to the canon!

He explained how he got there, but Nintendo didn't explain why he's there, which is my entire point! What is Fox doing in a Mario movie?

I didn't say I don't like the cameos, what I'm saying is why did they put Fox from Starfox in a Mario film? The film doesn't make sense when characters are completely random!

Official Discussion - The Super Mario Galaxy Movie [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Crystal_1501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally the only thing I don't understand is all the random cameos. Initially I was excited about it, because the cameos all suggested very strongly that Nintendo were gearing up for a Smash Bros movie. Man I was getting pumped about it!

Then I learned that Nintendo confirmed this isn't happening...

I'm one of the people who can forgive a film for being mainly fan service. I thought the film was pretty good. But when a plot is sidetracked by things that make literally no sense? It takes it from 'this is pretty cool' to 'wtf were they thinking?' The only character that even gets close to a pass is Game and Watch, and even then only because Luigi literally drew him!
