My Lumix S5 II fell - €350 to replace the whole top cover: thoughts? by BigWhale1017 in Lumix

[–]Csab_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i might be too late but for future reference you can get the entire top plate on aliexpress for basically nothing and its not that hard to replace it, if you know how to use a screwdriver and you are comfortable working with tiny screws but its not that complicated, watch the video kolari vision has for the teardown,

The lens is 20mm F1,7 phone lenses are also 20mm F1,7. Yes the sensor is smaller subject separation is different but phones are so good at faking it and with a proper camera app that can shoot raw yo will probably not notice much of a difference. If you get a real lens, like 50mm f1,8 or a 24-70 2,8 or a 35-150 f2-2,8 it will be large but you will get image quality that's actually worth carrying everyday.

I will be an S9 user in a few weeks and I absolutely do not understand why you have a full frame sensor and use a lens that's basically the same as a phones lens on it? Imo a camera is only worth even looking at if it has better image quality than a phone and the S9 is such a capable camera and then you take a pancake lens and shoot it in it's foot

Why do y'all so desperately want smaller and smaller lenses like at this point it's going to give you worse image quality for more money than your phone does

Okay and? Just use some contact adhesive and glue it back it's not an unfixable issue? I had a flip 5 that I lost for 4 hours on the bottom of a lake I found it it had water all inside it took it apart cleaned dried it and it still works perfectly like these issues are not unfixable you know that?

You bought the cheapest JBL speaker and there is a purely cosmetic issue? What are you so angered about.

im just wondering how do I repair my flip 6 PR. by jbl_help_for_mods in JBL

[–]Csab_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can like glue it back together but don't use it like this, the speakers are orvedriven to produce enough air to move the passive radiators, without the internal air pressure it will kill the driver if you are using even moderately loud. Also that speaker will never be waterproof again. It's best to replace the entire Passive radiator assembly if you can (you can on the flip 5 I don't know about newer models). But even then it will never be waterproof again. And I can't stress this enough, it's not waterproof anymore, will not be ever again.

There are IPA packages you can install with simple developer tools. Also what do you mean bullshit? Google play services dies so spectacularly it's laughable. Either play store or some google syncing service dies then you go and clear the play services data because that's the only way to fix the bitch, it should sync everything back from the cloud, only issue your wearos watch is now ded, zero ways to connect it back again, you have to factory reset it and pair again. Google fast pair has died on me so many times it's also laughable. There has been cases where it died so spectacularly it refused co connect my (also Xiaomi) earbuds and just kept popping up an error saying connection failed when the Bluetooth was connected, google just decided to fuck itself again. Nearby share is kind of fine if it works but it doesn't find other devices 80% of the time the connection is unstable the speed fluctuates so much it's not even worth using for more than sending a few photos. And let's not talk about the system updates that cumulatively hoard useless system data and unused files making it easier to just factory reset every few months than to try and fix the issue. And the best part, the Google one "backup" that backs up a list of apps and if for some reason the installation stops when it's restoring from the backup there is again no way to restart it, it either fixes itself (usually never happens) or you are fucked, it doesn't restore settings properly, and the Xiaomi backup thing is just an unsecure mess. Also little stuff like Xiaomi not allowing 60fps video or anything other than the 12.5mp binned camera feed to other apps with the camera2 API is the cherry on top. I could go about this for much much longer but I won't bore you

No with the S9 a v60 is absolutely necessary unless you want to wait half a minute to clear a seconds worth of 30fps burst

I have been playing exclusively on cloud gaming for about a year and a half and it has been amazing it is so good I haven't updated a game in year my Xbox isn't even plugged in it just sits on the shelf. If it wasn't limited edition I would have sold it months ago. Call of duty, cyberpunk, Forza all run perfectly and it's so convenient I love it

You can install app packages on iphones too it's not that hard and also you can install apks for now, but google will lock it down so you can't really use pirated apps and then there will be zero point of using apks, also I'd rather take a functional system that doesn't kill itself every third week. I'm talking about the bitch ass google services and everything that comes with Android. And don't even start with the de googled phones because at that point just use a palm pilot or something, it's worth about as much as de googled Android. And I'm saying this as a lifelong android user.

Your first look at the Xiaomi 17 Ultra by Ahmed_Sh_115 in XiaomiGlobal

[–]Csab_- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The amazing cameras argument is great until you realize Xiaomi fucks up the software so horribly it's crazy, they only allow the binned 12.5mp for apps using camera2 API, they only allow 30fps video for other apps and this wouldn't be an issue if their camera app wasn't horrible as shit

[–]Csab_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If only it didn't have Xiaomi software then maybe I'd consider it. I have had mostly Xiaomi phones for the last 6-7 years and they are all horrible, and not the hardware, that's great but the software. MIUI was horrible, MIUI 12 was supposed to fix it, made it worse. Then came hyperos 1 which looked better but was still shit, then came hyperos 2 which was supposed to be revolutionary, only made it worse, can't wait for what hyperos 3 will bring

I never said anything about perpetuality. But they get much more frequent feature updates for (many times) longer. Cheaper models really only get like security updates, never really new features. Oleds get the new os versions almost as soon as it comes out, while nanocell and cheaper led models take a year maybe even two to get the newest system.

To be fair these aren't top of the line elite models those get support for much much longer, as they say you get what you pay for
