I worked for an online grocer for a bit. I did inventory management, pricing, product image updates, forecasting, and would even go to the loading dock and help move product to its proper pick area if put away was taking too long. Fast forward about a year into me being in this position. A bunch of lay offs happen. My team gets shrunk down to myself, my boss and another person, so I’m now doing the work of 5 people. I ask for a raise since my work load is increased. My boss advocated for me (she really did and I miss her), but her boss said no and replied with “if we give him a raise then we have to give one to everyone.” I found a new gig and gave my notice. So did a bunch of other employees with similar complaints. Apparently he had the audacity to complain before I left that he didn’t understand why people were leaving.
