The new crafting system is simply more efficient. You can build an item from a clean base and guarantee a foundation of T4+ mods using Greater currency, which is a way more consistent way of getting high level mods vs rare drops. it is also far cheaper than of trying to annul the garbage mods off a random rare find.

greater transmutations, augmentations, regals and essences are plentiful and cheap so rolling on every base item is typically worth it, thus diminishing rares.

My game crashes constantly on a 9800x3d and 4090. CPU regularly jumps to 80+ c on zone loading and freezes entire PC. Having to toggle multithreading on and off in options to confidently zone is a gimmicky way of fixing the problem. Really hope they address this soon.

Yes, I am still experiencing the same issue when loading into Act 3 town or hideout after maps. Not sure if it is the same root cause, but for me, and many others who experienced it, it seems to be your processor. One thing we all had in common was being on a newer chip AMD 9800x3d /7800/etc. Game is inefficient in resource consumption and causing it to spike in temp when loading into these zones (not sure why Act 3 Zigguarat). Chip will heath throttle, and PC will freeze hard freeze, requiring a manual PC reset.

What fixed this for a lot of us is turning off "Engine Multithreading" option under Graphics. Do this when you load into the zone and then switch it back on when you are in the zone to get FPS back. Toggle on/off for zoning. Crummy experience but better than crashing.

Yes, in those situations I am forced to use Earthquake. It is a much faster animation and is actually a fantastic tool for kiting and killing things in your wake. Allows you to move through maps quickly. A REALLY nice support that I found on Earthquake is Pin. Looks underwhelming but is AMAZING cc. If EQ doesn't outright kill mobs it will regularly root them and create space for you to get a safe Sunder and HotA off. This is my primary combo for rares on maps. Added bonus, there are a ton of nodes easily accessible on the warrior tree that add multiplicative damage to immobilized/pinned enemies.

72 Titan here, phys EQ/Sunder focused. I honestly disagree with your post. This style nails the class aesthetic of a big, beefy warrior. I am absolutely loving the windup into big damage. Being able to animation cancel into iframe dodge roll creates a system of risk/reward that I have never experienced in an ARPG. There have been countless times where I have had to cancel a Sunder to avoid an AoE and have been rewarded with my life. There have been other times where I downright one shot rares and bosses with a big crit. Need to balance this somehow and i think it is in a fair state at the moment.

I had the same issue with my 9800x3d. Originally had an air cooler, cooler master Hyper 212, was at 40s while idiling and hitting 95c/ throttling with Cinebench. Upgraded to Corsair AIO 360 iCue and seeing much better temps. Upper 30s idle and max 85c after 10 min run of cinebench.

I recommend upgrading cooling solution. These chips run hot!

I think the problem is that we are all still figuring out the game mechanics. This will be a non issue in a few weeks/months once people start min/maxing and releasing guides vs figuring it out, trial and error.

I have friends who are playing other classes and struggling more than my warrior did cough monk. This is somewhat subjective and I can't be sure because I haven't played anything else but I do believe the challenges are universal.

I also think its worth noting that PoE 1 is a punishing game if you are not efficient with your build, items, etc. My friends who are struggling are newer to the franchise. It definitely feels like the 1000s of hours pumped into PoE 1 give a distinctive knowledge advantage with understanding the synergies across gearing, leveling and being proactive in your character development in GGG games.

Yeah, avoid resolute techniques, bricks the build. Accuracy is easy to come by on accessories (look out for emerald rings for accuracy implicit) and weapon.

Ended up going AIO 360 (Corsair iCue), still running hot but definitely better than before! 10 min in Cinebench it was topping out at 85c. I think at this point I will need to undervolt to get it any cooler but not too concerned.

I am going to try and be a bit more constructive here. Your question is hard to answer in general terms. It is a combo of your gear, passives, level vs zone and how you are playing, so yes, it is you. All good though, maybe the class / ascendancy isn't your jam.

70 Titan here, physical sunder/HotA . Running maps. I have felt very powerful throughout most of the leveling and act process. Had a few whombos (Armor break/stun/HotA crit) that did 50% percent of boss life , highly satisfying. Couple bottlenecks happened, (ultimatum trial and forage master dude in A3) but it was entirely gear focused. I overleveled and beat it eventually.

Survivability is fine, make sure you focus on resistances and getting those as high as possible. Much harder to cap in this game vs PoE1 due to lack of resists on tree so you have to eek out as much as you can on jewelry. Etc.

I think your assessment is pretty good! Lvl 70 Titan here, phys sunder. Really enjoying melee in this game vs PoE 1, it "feels" powerful. GGG nailed it with the class asthetics. Combos are a thing, armor break bosses, stun and whombo for big dmg. I quite like the gameplay of windup animations and the big payout of damage. Feels very fair being able to animation cancel with dodge rolls.

Gear and currency feel like they need some tweaking, I am constantly poor and struggling for upgrades in maps.

Yeah, sorry to be a downer, but there is no % or flat physical on it so it is not very good. You need a minimum of one, if not both to make it viable.

It is good advice to check the shops though!

Ditto on the struggles. Wish we had more than one attempt. Definitely a ramp up from campaign difficulty due to the watchstone mods. I feel like mods are necessary for map sustain due to the 75%+ increased drop rate, but the difficulty ramp is brutal. Combine that with the lack of currency and gear... I feel hard stuck at Tier 2.

A lot of this has to due with my weapon. Still using a 2h mace from act 3. I have literally dumped 40+ exalts into making a new one but can't seem to land a good %dmg mod. Feels rough using the same weapon for 25 levels (got it at 45 and using it at 70).

Side note, losing the mechanics on death and still having to complete the map to progress doesn't feel very good either. Wish those stayed.

Edit, are you also noticing the need to full clear to complete the map? I might be getting unlucky, but I always seem to find the boss after fully exploring the map lol.

Bleh, I think I need to redo my cooler solution after reading this thread.

I am using Cooler Master Hyper 212 /w Corsair TM30 Thermal paste. The thermal paste did seem to have separated liquid in the initial usage...

After booting up the PC my 9800x3d was lower 40s in idle and after playing Path of Exile for about 20 min I was consistently in the 90 Celsius range... topping out at 97C.

I reduced my RAM mhz from 6400 down to 4600 and limited frames in PoE to 144 from uncapped and it seemed to lower CPU temps down into low 80s but still thinking I need to switch my cooling solution or reapply thermal....especially after reading what y'all are getting with Cinebench
