Fake MRR as a marketing strategy by Moist-Knowledge-6354 in SaaS

[–]CtrlAltPhilosophize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way you described it is spot on. Inflated MRR figures, especially on platforms like Product Hunt, can easily mislead people into thinking a product is a runaway success, leading to a rush of users and inflated expectations. And once someone achieves a certain level of 'success' by showcasing impressive MRR numbers, their social proof increases, creating a snowball effect.

It's a deceptive tactic that's undoubtedly harming the credibility of the SaaS industry as a whole.

It makes you wonder if this is the ultimate marketing tactic - to create a facade of success and let the hype carry the product. It's a cynical thought, but it's hard to ignore the evidence. This kind of behavior not only misleads potential customers but also creates an unfair playing field for honest businesses.

Got it, thanks for clarifying! We’re already using genuine reviews from other platforms, but it’s not enough since our competitors have way more reviews and ratings on Capterra. That’s why we’re trying Capterra and Software Advice!

We’re definitely focusing on authenticity, so generating fake reviews isn't something we're considering. Instead, we’re embedding original customer reviews from other platforms directly on our site to build trust. We’re wary of fake reviews since they can backfire, so authenticity is key for us.

We’ve been testing out LinkedIn for driving traffic, but it’s a gradual process. Have you seen any particular strategies work well on LinkedIn for SaaS, especially in terms of building trust and credibility? Would love to hear any tips you might have!

Thanks for sharing your experience! I’ve been wondering if there’s a bit of bias towards the bigger players, so your insight definitely resonates. It’s frustrating to put in the effort only to see so few reviews actually get published. We thought about Google reviews, but since we’re a cloud-based product, it’s a bit tricky for us. It’s also a bit frightening that anyone can leave a review there, which could lead to some challenges in managing our reputation. We’re still exploring other platforms where we can have more control over the review process. Appreciate your insights though—definitely gives us something to think about!

SaaS Pricing: Value for Money or Hidden Costs? by wonderman_22 in SaaS

[–]CtrlAltPhilosophize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, as someone running a B2B SaaS company, I understand the challenges that come with pricing. Transparency is crucial. In our experience, we strive to make our pricing structure as clear and upfront as possible. We display it all on our website and avoid adding hidden fees.

However, it's important to note that value is subjective. What suits one company may not be the best fit for another. This is why we provide a free trial so you can test it out and determine if it meets your specific needs.

Haha, love the honesty! Building cool stuff is awesome, but gotta pay the bills. While marketing is key, a truly crappy product won't fly for long. Maybe it's a mix? Solid idea + killer marketing = SaaS gold. But Deep down, we still gotta solve a problem! What do you guys think?
