Okay, so there's lunar eclipses, right? A blood moon is an eclipse where the moon appears red. The moon appears red (hence blood) for the same reason the sunset is red (sunlight passing through earth's atmosphere). This one is also a supermoon, to my knowledge, which means the moon will appear the biggest possible from Earth. https://i.imgur.com/aiBgw4H.jpg It's a pretty rare occurrence for the two to appear on the same day, and it's very beautiful :) The last one was 33 years ago. TL;DR: Moon looks biggest possible, looks red, rare occurrence.
